APSIS Pro

Works well, relatively easy to use - but lacks some up-to-date and modern features as well as look and feel. The support provided is OK but not world class. It is too bad as APSIS as a company is quite good at inspiring and providing insights into trends in email marketing.

SendinBlue

SendinBlue is great for simple email marketing, especially for small businesses. It's very easy to get the account setup and create an email compared to other services like MailChimp. It's also very user-friendly for those who may not be technically savvy. If you have a much larger scale email list or regularly import lists from outside SendinBlue, then you may want to look elsewhere. SendinBlue is great if you stay within the system, but can cause trouble if you import email lists outside of the system.

Pros

  • We have a pre-designed template and pre-build elements and thus it is quite easy to compose nice looking newsletters.
  • Doing split-tests on subject, clicks etc. is quite easy and requires no tech help.
  • Imporing new contacts and adding to the list is straight forward.
Henrik Christensen profile photo
  • They do responsive design templates that are viewable on any platform or device.
  • The system is easy to use.
  • The setup takes only a few minutes to set up
  • The analytics are far superior to other platforms.

Cons

  • The user interface is not good. Too much scrolling and too many menues to navigate. Half of the pages are updated to a "new" look with the rest still being the (really) old design. This badly needs a make-over.
  • There is no one-click "send reminder to those who did not open". To send reminders, it is nescessary to build a filter a do a new send using the filter. Such a simple and often repeated task should be automated.
  • It is not possible to add a "Why did you leave us?"-page for opt-outs... Really misses this.
  • The statistics are too limited and to difficult to use - mostly due to the UI design as described above.

  • They need to include the ability to add a click to call feature in the responsive templates.
  • The ability to separate the logo from the navigation.

I am a web designer and systems admin. I have not found anything with this system that was hard to use. Other systems make it hard to do simple tasks and is very limiting. SendinBlue doesn't limit you.

Everything loads very quickly, it saves as you go along so you're unlikely to loose work if your computer fails. Reports are there immediately too so you're able to act quickly on customer engagement.

If you follow all the steps of the setup process they give you, any one can set this up in about 1 - 2 hours.

Alternatives Considered

MailChimp offers more flexibilty but also seems a bit more complicated to use. We did not use it long enough to really get an idea of the positive and negative.
Henrik Christensen profile photo
The newsletter plug-in for WordPress accomplished the automation tasks but delivery was slow. It also didn't manage the subscriber lists well and often had problems with broken links when using the tags functionality.Mailjet accomplished the objective but customer service was poor. Their pricing plans were also not as flexible. At my volume, I actually saved money by going with SendinBlue. Other volumes may differ.

They have multiple options for upgrading bigger senders or if you need more emails sent in a month.

Return on Investment

  • We are still trying to figure out how to use this medium for sales. We have had some success with Black Monday sales, but in general we do not have much response to our emails.
  • We have increases our visibility with our customers by making sure to land in their mailbox regulary with nice looking messages.
Henrik Christensen profile photo
  • Before SendinBlue it took over 48 hours to deliver our newsletters. This didn't allow us to promote something that was happening tomorrow because half of our subscribers wouldn't even get the newsletter until the next day.
  • The process of generating the newsletter and sending it is much simpler which reduces errors.
