Articulate Studio
If you need to build courses that have quizzes and want to control the audience's attention to the course, rather than starting a course and watching YouTube while it plays in the background, or if you need to have the results go to a proprietary system that you control, then Articulate Studio will be a well suited software solution for you.

Pluralsight
Pluralsight's best demographic is already-seasoned technology for professionals who are looking to improve their skills and train themselves to move up in job titles. There are competitors that are better suited for absolute beginners. While the content is excellent and presented in a manner significantly less boring than reading the documentation, it's still up to the user to ensure they're comprehending the information.

Pros
Articulate Studio
- Easy learning curve. Just some button clicks for recording narration, syncing animations, and adding annotations.
- They made some fairly recent improvements to how you sync animations and add annotations. With the timeline, you can manually move the timing around. Much better than the earlier task of having to just re-do it from the beginning and hope you get the timing right.
- If you're using Studio in the Articulate 360 subscription, you can easily review the course before it publishes.
- The included Quizmaker program is just great. Simple to use, but you can make a varied mix of questions, and the customization options are great.
- You can add background music in slides, which is pretty great in certain situations.

Pluralsight
- When it comes to Microsoft tools, languages and techniques, Pluralsight brings its customers the very latest in content. Just after the release of ASP.NET Core 2.0 came out they had a course available online.
- The instructors are top-notch. You get incredible presenters such as Paul Sheriff, Shawn Wildermuth, Scott Allen and more. All are incredibly articulate and provide great download code.
- Pluralsight offers a cool set of tools that let you take a test and see where you stand on the learning curve of a given technology. This lets you know where you should be brushing up on a given technology.

Cons
Articulate Studio
- It's icing on the cake. It provides a lot of usability with its quiz-maker and presenter. The presenter can sometimes feel like an unnecessary add on. If it didn't come apart of a package, I don't think we would have purchased it outright.

Pluralsight
- I'd like to see Pluralsight better indicate where technology might be deprecated in favor of something newer. Continue to offer that content, but this would give users an opportunity to reconsider the skill they're learning.
- Pluralsight should offer a native Roku app. There have been several times where I'd like to sit and learn something from the comfort of my couch, but Pluralsight's Roku integration is mediocre at best.
- Pluralsight could better provide code examples and sample repositories for some of its courses.

This is very useable software even for novice eLearning authoring users. People with some PowerPoint experience should be fine with this software and even Excel!

Overall support is great for issues that they are able to help with. Other times it seems like instead of fixing the bugs you are told to wait for the newest version so instead of getting a fix for free you have to pay to upgrade. I have found this frustrating

We look at Captivate first, which Adobe oddly leaves out of its Creative Cloud suite, and I can see why it seems to be completely foreign in term of UI vs other Adobe products. The familiar PPT structure Captivate leverages is completely absent and the tools are much more rigid. Exporting was also more difficult - it's pretty night and day different. Captivate is AWFUL, especially for an Adobe product.

Before using Pluralsight, staff was using YouTube to help them with developing certain aspects of their knowledge. However, YouTube is much less structured/organized than Pluralsight. Pluralsight has a very wide offering of courses and it has lot of good content. One quick search and we can get started.

Articulate Studio
- I only see positive impact since it is a very easy to use tool for rapid learning. The only point is to know what is possible to develop using this tool to avoid any kind of frustration afterwards.
- Another positive impact is that we don't need a diversified development team. There is no need of technical professionals, and a creative instructional designer is enough to develop effective learning content using Studio.
- The third positive impact is that Studio makes possible to realize short-term projects, mainly when there's already a PowerPoint presentation.

Pluralsight
- One positive impact is it has kept our employees engaged in the material they work with every day. Instead of becoming stagnant and complacent, they are actively searching out ways to develop skills and do more with the tools available to them.
- It saves money when it comes to offering training and development opportunities company-wide. It would be much more costly to invest in specialized training for that number of employees.
- One potential negative is the amount of company time spent on coursework over work responsibilities. A balance must be struck and individuals should be encouraged to explore the training on their own time.
