ASG-Remote Desktop

Best for users that have many desktops or servers they need to login to. Great in my environment of multiple clients and the need for fast login and resolution of their issue. If you have a large infrastructure or multiple clients, this is a product you need!

XenApp

XenApp is best suited for an organization with remote users using standard applications. It delivers apps to several devices and provides support for end-users over remote networks.

  • Application delivery - Deliver any application to any user anywhere in the world.
  • Security - Data no longer exists on the users' machines. With XenApp data stays in the datacenter where it can remain safe and secure.
  • Upgrade Flexibility - Upgrade your application in once place.
  • Mobility - Access any application on any device anywhere in the world.

Cons

  • Can be overly complicated at first, but you can add into the features as you build your organization skills
Tina Cline profile photo
  • Mobility - Though mobility is outstanding, the ease of use could be a bit better.
  • Application layering - Though it has come a long way, application layering still needs some work.
  • Profile management - Citrix UPM needs work.

Alternatives Considered

ASG-Remote is very flexible and with so many options available it makes the configuration you want for your setup super simple. Other products do not offer the extra features for database and reporting. As well, it offers all the connection types you can possibly think of. The ability to automate tasks for regular servers and workstations is amazing!

There really is nothing else on the market that compares to XenApp application delivery. Sure, one could argue VMware Horizon View can do similar, but I would compare View more to XenDesktop than XenApp. XenApp is the only product on the market with the stability, support and outstanding reputation to deliver business critical apps to your end-users.
