AskNicely

AskNicely is well suited for surveying customers about how they are feeling about your product. This can be their overall feeling or after they have taken a certain action. E.g. used a particular feature. It's not designed for getting through customer feedback, rather gauging satisfaction. You will need to follow up with other survey methods for detailed feedback.

GetFeedback, by SurveyMonkey

Well suited for a company that has multiple people using it for various reasons - whether it's collecting data or getting a "feel" for your business. The data is quicker calculated and displayed at a high level, and people are able to "drill" down into details. It is not too great for people who want "creative"/out-of-the-box type of look and feel. It is very straightforward. Almost like a step-by-step design.

Pros

AskNicely

  • NPS Surveys - Easy to access and use and branded for our company.
  • Analytics - AskNicely provides simple and robust analytics for identifying trends in data.
  • Workflows - AskNicely uniquely provides automated workflows in response to NPS results. This means teams like customer success and marketing can spend less time reacting and researching and more time working to create programs that drive more business and improve our customer experience.

GetFeedback, by SurveyMonkey

  • Embed survey responses into an email to allow for easier data capture from customers.
  • Automatically creates GetFeedback records in SFDC, which allows for greater visibility and better integration of reporting. This also drives a number of calls to action with internal teams via SFDC workflows and Gainsight.
  • Very customizable look and feel of the survey to stay on corporate brand.
  • Intuitive user interface.

Cons

AskNicely

  • Integrations could always be another but they do a nice job getting Asknicely and CRM’s talking nicely to one another
  • I’d like to see more resources on how to take small businesses to the next level of CX execution using NPS and AskNicely
  • More, not fewer plan options

GetFeedback, by SurveyMonkey

  • The only real challenge I've encountered is that they don't have a simple way to use a defined drop-down list that is in our CRM.
  • I wish I could get a custom icon for ratings vs. just stars, hearts, circles or numbers. That was not a deal breaker, but it would be kind of cool to have.
  • The process of creating a URL (distributing a Salesforce Aware Survey) to embed in an email template is a little complicated and takes some practice, especially for a novice admin that, at the time, didn't have much experience in adding modifiers and merge fields.

We have just renewed our annual license. I don't think we could move the company backwards at this point

A great tool to use for all levels and experiences in any organization. Price to ROI is [well] worth it. The data is easily shared and read, but there are limitations to compiling data [from] multiple surveys - you cant merge data from multiple surveys to create a new answer set.

Great support for easy questions and concerns, reps are fast to reply to support cases, and calling in usually is an average 10-15 minute wait time. But when the issue is complicated or complex, getting an answer takes longer or usually never solved. The problems and issues solved can range from satisfied to [leave] you with other questions.

Alternatives Considered

AskNicely

We are still evaluating SurveyMonkey against AskNicely, but initial results would seem to favor the latter. For ease-of-use, flexibility, and easily accessible analytics, AskNicely wins on all counts. Both have robust outreach engines, and there are limitations and pros/cons on each application. It is at least a very competitive match up, and I would hesitate to besmirch one tool over the other. SurveyMonkey users would benefit from giving AskNicely a once-over, though.

GetFeedback has a professional appearance and dynamic content UI that is more trustworthy than other solutions. Additionally, the transitions and branding of GetFeedback are user-friendly on any device making survey response easy to manage. Finally, Salesforce integration is made not only easy but encouraged with a comprehensive ability to customize survey content.

Return on Investment

AskNicely

  • Ask Nicely is just for internal use and we don't monitor it in relevance to GMV
  • Ask Nicely is a good way to provide quantifiable goals in customer service which is often qualitative
  • Ask Nicely is a great way to follow up with all customers who have not had a good experience
