AskNicely

AskNicely is well suited for surveying customers about how they are feeling about your product. This can be their overall feeling or after they have taken a certain action. E.g. used a particular feature. It's not designed for getting through customer feedback, rather gauging satisfaction. You will need to follow up with other survey methods for detailed feedback.

I do think some older enterprises would find the implementation process difficult, but not impossible. The pricing model may not be appropriate for business who have a lot of monthly users.

Pros

  • AskNicely is very easy to set up and configure. Uploading the contacts was a breeze, and the import went smoothly.
  • Results are clearly and logically displayed for rapid engagement.
  • We reached more users in just one day than we did in one week previously with three people calling daily. And this was just with the trial version, which limited us to only 50 surveys a day!
  • Their customer service was stellar. I never had to wait long for a response from our representative (Nick). He was quick with solid answers as well.
  • The graphical interface is very streamlined and user-friendly. It made an impact with our management team for sure.

Cons

  • Hard to complain about the service, but the only thing I'd like to be able to do *better* is collect and digest NPS on an account level vs. user level!

  • A lot of the UI still feels like it could be polished -- there's no separate menu to edit/create a segment without first opening a report for example. Most of it is very intuitive but decisions such as the above can be frustrating.
  • There are certain fields that can't be used in reports but are available in other parts of the app. For instance, a visitor report can't use the date of response for an NPS survey as a field, so it can't be pushed externally. However, this information is plainly available in the NPS panel. Making additional fields available for use in reports would be a major step forward.
  • There still seems to be hiccups with the Salesforce Visitor and Account integrations. Fields don't sync sometimes, or need to be selected multiple times before the field actually displays under the account or visitor.

Alternatives Considered

We are still evaluating SurveyMonkey against AskNicely, but initial results would seem to favor the latter. For ease-of-use, flexibility, and easily accessible analytics, AskNicely wins on all counts. Both have robust outreach engines, and there are limitations and pros/cons on each application. It is at least a very competitive match up, and I would hesitate to besmirch one tool over the other. SurveyMonkey users would benefit from giving AskNicely a once-over, though.

I compared WalkMe and Pendo back to back, I found the overall product experience in Pendo to be more modern and user-friendly than WalkMe. It seemed like WalkMe relies very heavily on professional services to get the product rolled out and to do anything complex, while Pendo just gave you the tools and UI to do it yourself (but still offers PS if you want to go that route). Both tools had a lot of feature parity at the time of evaluation, but Pendo's came in at half the price. Pendo's company growth and feature growth have been absolutely insane over the past year, this is important to me.
