AskNicely is perfect for an SMB who truly wants to begin building a formal Customer Experience program but does not have the internal resources to get started. With AskNicely, you can quickly not only measure NOS but take action like your larger competitors. It really is a difference maker.

Pendo is a complete solution for both product analytics and user guides. Depending on your needs, it may be overkill in some areas and individual point solutions may be more helpful. It's amazing for companies 50-1000 employees and they're actively developing features to go up even higher in the market. If you have a healthy business and departments within that business, it's likely a really good fit. If your organization is a mess, it may be more difficult to find complete success with this tool. There's a lot of cross-departmental wins this tool allows for.

  • Amazingly easy to “close the loop” with customers who respond to the NPS question

  • User Segmentation is amazing, we combine our SFDC data with Pendo's usage data and filters to answer super specific questions like "What C-level executives have used our filtering features in the past 14 days at least 5 times"
  • You have full creative control over walkthroughs, tooltips, and surveys and it uses a combination of templates, merge fields, and access to the raw HTML, CSS, and JS to give you complete control.
  • Pendo just works, there's seldom a bug we've come across and its user experience is second to none. It's great for both technical and non-technical people alike.

  • Integrations could always be another but they do a nice job getting Asknicely and CRM’s talking nicely to one another
  • I’d like to see more resources on how to take small businesses to the next level of CX execution using NPS and AskNicely
  • More, not fewer plan options

  • Pendo's main dashboard section is still pretty static with limited ways to get at specific sets of data to share with other users.
  • Checking out an individual user's path through the site is possible in Pendo today, but the view is hard to break down and get actionable insights from.

Alternatives Considered

We are still evaluating SurveyMonkey against AskNicely, but initial results would seem to favor the latter. For ease-of-use, flexibility, and easily accessible analytics, AskNicely wins on all counts. Both have robust outreach engines, and there are limitations and pros/cons on each application. It is at least a very competitive match up, and I would hesitate to besmirch one tool over the other. SurveyMonkey users would benefit from giving AskNicely a once-over, though.

We felt for our needs Pendo had a better fit for onboarding and ease of use by groups outside of Product. I think this still holds true and it's been easy for us to onboard into our product code

Return on Investment

  • The first positive impact has been stressing the nearly urgent need for a NPS tracking system. Gathering the first few responses (both positive and negative) was eye-opening.
  • The second positive impact was being able to see a commonality among our detractors, which in turn enabled our management team to shift strategies on prioritizing resources and projects.
  • Lastly, this has filled a niche in customer satisfaction feedback that was not sustainable in the previous methods.
