AT Internet is good in visualization, in data protection issues, and in the provision of data. AT Internet as a web application has the danger that sometimes a desktop client solution would be more stable, sometimes data must be recalculated or corrected. But generally, AT Internet is a very good tool.

Webtrends Analytics

Scenarios1. If you want to use web server log files as input to your web analytics, then Webtrends will provides a good product, with great ease of implementation. Don't even think about being cheap on hardware, and make sure Webtrends runs on real servers, not in a VM environment.2. If you want to use Data Tagging, similar to Google Analytics or Site Catalyst, Webtrends has a powerful product, just be prepared to pay.3. If you are new to Web Analytics, but it is the strategic direction, start with Webtrends on Premises.Questions to Ask1. What are you trying to accomplish?2. Can you place a dollar value on the benefit that you expect/need from Webtrends?3.Can you live with Webtrends running SaaS?

Pros

  • AT Internet offers tools for target groups and users (for beginners in the field of web analysis, for example, dashboard solutions; for web analytics specialists, elaborate analysis tools with export functions in BI solutions).
  • AT Internet is web-based and available on all devices and delivers user numbers in real-time at any location. The creation of reports and reports with AT Internet is fast to learn and the operation is very intuitive (good usability).

  • In terms of simple web site usage, Webtrends is excellent at showing increasing or decreasing usage month over month.
  • Webtrends is very good at showing what pages of the web site are getting the most usage, what are the most successful downloads
  • Webtrends is also very good at showing the geographic location of the clients. It is pretty good at showing what organizations the clients belong to as well.

Cons

  • Interface. The current one doesn't seem as clear (and good-looking?) as Google Analytics for instance. Nevertheless, a new one is planned.
  • Real time that isn't completely real. Whereas Google Analytics allows to see what is happening on the website in real time, you have to wait 2 or 3 minutes with AT Internet. But that may change with the new API and interface.

  • Webtrends is not great at providing statistical data for analysis. You need to enable Log File Delivery or create an analysis export to perform this. This could theoretically be done with Streams.
  • Webtrends has difficulty identifying multi-visit users due to the inherent fragility of cookie-based tracking.
  • Webtrends Analytics does not provide Pathing capabilities for segments, only for the aggregate. However, this can be worked around with Scenario functionality selectively fired by a tag management system.
  • Segmentation by high-cardinality parameters tends to cause issues with table limits. Even after scrubbing and scrutinizing data, we commonly see up of 10K rows per dimension. Due to this, we use Webtrends Analytics to roll up data into larger segments and export all of our log data into our database for heavy duty number crunching.

AT Internet is a new vendor within the mass market industry, they go step by step on their product development and try to be a leader on innovation.
The solution doesn't work yet as a Big Data analytics environment such as Adobe Insight or comScore (Dax) but it is easy to use, powerful and comes with a high quality customer support. The only issue would be on partnership with email marketers, MVT solutions etc... which I assume can be fixed easily.

We heavily utilize the Analytics features, and for our purposes the On-Demand Analytics product is a good value, so there would need to be a compelling reason to switch to another vendor. Streams is a unique product and is particularly attractive due to its lack of overhead from a user experience and implementation standpoint.

The v9 admin interface and v10 reporting interface work as well as expected, but have a tendency to be pokey, especially for bulky reports and whenever you're connected to wifi. I much prefer using the REST API for all reporting for this reason, which simply dumps out the data and doesn't bother with the user interface.

Careful planning and patience. Use a non-public test site to fine tune tags and reporting. Despite best laid plans, there will be surprises when you collect the data, run the analysis and begin generating reports using the tool. Perform a tag audit to ensure tags fire as desired.

Alternatives Considered

In contrast to Google Analytics AT Internet gives full and unaggregated access to the data. That enables drilling down to the smallest segment without running into sampling errors. This is particularly useful when analyzing small campaigns, newsletters or other high impact but low traffic marketing efforts. The drawback is the antiquated user interface of the Analyzer that is not up to par with Googles recently updated Analytics frontend.

  • Ad placement performance - We have been able to leverage the placements of ads on webpages by using Webtrends. For example, ad space 1 in a rotating banner may not be performing as best as ad space 2. If there is a campaign, news piece, contest, etc. that we would like to have more traction with, we could see that an option would be changing it from ad space 1 to ad space 2.
