Avenseo

It's well suited for e-commerce companies willing to improve conversion. It's less appropriate for small companies (the benefits might not cover the price, even if it is not that expensive !).

LaunchDarkly

Well suited for -
  1. Fast paced environments where product receives several upgrades or updates every week.
  2. Complex environment where multiple teams work on interdependent feature sets.
  3. Products with large user base.
Less appropriate -
  1. If the product has limited end userbase
  2. Development is managed by a single individual or in a slowpaced environment.

Pros

Avenseo

  • MVT & A/B/X testing is quite easy but might need knowledge in Web development
  • Very good French support (might be available in other langages too ?)
  • Avenseo's team can also set your tests for you (if you don't have web dev on your team)

LaunchDarkly

  • A/B or Multi Variant Testing as a methodology to gather insight from customer usage. Experimentation as a feature within LaunchDarkly offers information around the success of one variant over another and whether the experiment has reached statistical significance.
  • Being able to decouple deployment of code from the release of a feature is hugely valuable.
  • Development teams are empowered to manage features within their production applications for reliability or testing purposes.

Cons

Avenseo

  • It might need more flexibility (which is a choice in that case, once you lock your experiment, some options are definitly locked. You may change the contents of the components still).
  • The platform is quite "old style"
  • Might be cool to upload files using the platform (images, css etc..)
Fabien Caublot | TrustRadius Reviewer

LaunchDarkly

  • Limited number of users on cheaper plans that is limiting our ability to audit log who is making changes.
  • Some of our engineers are confused between flags and segments and have set up items incorrectly.
  • Better documented support for React with Typescript.

Implementing Avenseo is quite easy; for most of our clients they have nothing to do but to add two lines of code and let us do the configuration of the test and the frontend developpement. You can easily check your variations as if it were already live, using a control box so you don't have unexpected bugs when your test goes live !

The User Interface is very easy to use - the UI is also very intuitive. Flag rules and targeting takes time to learn, however if time is taken to read the documentation or work with others who have experience, it can be picked up in a short amount of time.

Performance isn't too bad. It needs some refining and can be made a bit faster. I found that although it took longer for the team to do the work in [the] beginning, it was mainly due to my team's knowledge. Once they got the hang of it, we found it was faster and easy to use.

Alternatives Considered

Avenseo

Well the French support is rare and MVT testing is not always that simple so Avenseo is a good tool if you need both!

After evaluating a nunch of products, we found LaunchDarkly has a clearly defined roadmap, user experience and a desirable learning curve. We have invested in LaunchDarkly and rolled out necessary training to our business owners, product owners and developers. With most of the decisions being currently based on what LauchDarkly oberves for us.

Return on Investment

Avenseo

  • Conversion increase makes the cost of Avenseo easily forgotten
  • You pay for a number of visitors so you can do multiple tests, so you get a lot of insights and you can wisely use those to make your conversion grow
Fabien Caublot | TrustRadius Reviewer

LaunchDarkly

  • Improved developer experience with some teams moving to Trunk-based Development.
  • Increased deployment frequency due to smaller code releases.
  • Validation of the technical and business value of work is achieved more quickly through smaller pieces of work and through experimenting with a small group of users before a feature gets to 100% of customers.
