Azure App Service
Azure App Service is great if you're starting a new web project and need an infrastructure that is fast, stable, secure, and scalable. The service has a very high up-time, and it supports a variety of languages and technologies (though it really shines with the .NET stack - C#, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, etc.). If you're thinking about porting an existing app over, it may wind up being expensive as far as resources go if the software isn't properly optimized to utilize cloud resources efficiently, so that's something to keep in mind.

Every website should have Google Analytics installed. Even if you're not ready to use it, it can at least start capturing data. Then when you're ready, you'll have plenty of data to dive into. Even if you're only mildly interested in your website's performance, there are plenty of stats in Google Analytics you'll find useful. I find it a little trickier for mobile apps (between Google Analytics for mobile apps and Firebase, I'm still not completely sure which one to be using).

Cons
Azure App Service
- Abstraction of computing resources like Heroku does with dynos.
- Azure Portal overall is pretty bloated and that affects managing Azure App Service applications.

- It can be difficult to create the segment I'm looking for.
- I don't always trust that the data is telling me what I think it is. Sometimes unsure how the data is being calculated or what exactly I'm looking at.
- I know there are a ton of things I'm missing! Help me discover the features I need :)

Google Analytics provides a wealth of data, down to minute levels. That is it's greatest detriment: find the right information when you need it can be a cumbersome task. You are able to create shortcuts, however, so it can mitigate some of this problem. Google is continually refining Analytics, so I do not doubt there will be improvements

The Google reps respond very quickly. However, sometimes they can overly call you to set up an apportionment. I'm very proficient and sometimes when I talk to reps, they give beginner tutorials and insights that are a waste of time. I wish Google would understand my level of expertise and assign me to a rep (long-term) that doesn't have to walk me through the basics.

Make sure to put the tracking code on every page. Ideally this would be part of a template or "include" so you can update the code on all pages (or at least within pages of the same category) at once.

After exhaustive testing, we settled on Azure App Service because we felt they offered the best solutions in the price range we willing to pay for. It also was a natural extension of our website hosting package on Azure, and it is nice to be organized in one place.

Google Analytics
Google Analytics has similar reporting capabilities as Adobe Analytics and Webtrends Analytics. But it stands out when it comes to having higher limits or caps on web server calls or website hits to analyze without charging extra. For advanced analysis, Google Analytics does a better job of integrating with BigQuery so SQL can be used against relational databases to run queries and pull non-clickstream analytics which are correlated to clickstream analytics. Example: Invoice sales correlated to Clickstream conversions. When it comes to tracking qualitative data such as survey responses to measure customer satisfaction or heatmaps and session replays, Hotjar and Foresee tools are rated higher. To track impact of SEO marketing campaigns on driving awareness of a particular brand, category or drive higher conversions of specific items, Conductor Searchlight does a better job because it also compares results of our SEO campaigns to industry trends and benchmarks

Azure App Service
- Azure App Service has allowed us to quickly deploy high-budget projects very quickly, netting us a healthy profit vs the cost to develop. (We make, on average, about 10x what it costs to get up and running per project thanks to how easy it is to implement a skeleton framework.)
- Costs are low to run the services thanks to the scaling functionality that comes with Azure App Service. We can utilize less resources during slow times and save hundreds of dollars per month vs costs of traditional servers.

Google Analytics
- While very little in this world is truly free, the only real cost to using Google Analytics is time, from your PM's, your web admins, your engineers, your email admins, and QA analysts--but it is without a doubt time well spent.
- Because you run the risk of paralysis by analysis, one must pick their battles with Google Analytics. If you go in with a clear, concise set of objectives, and a competent technical supporting cast, you will succeed.
- On the reverse side of the same coin, if you come in without a purpose, you run the risk of getting bogged down in all of the information without immediate relevance, and you may just leave behind this treasure trove of invaluable analytics in search of said relevance.
