First of all, BambooHR is not cost-effective if you do not have a lot of processes that you are looking to streamline. In short, you need to examine what you are currently doing and determine whether BambooHR has an equivalent process that can replace it and help make things smoother. Mid-size companies might have better success with BambooHR given the cost, as well, but smaller companies can manage if the budget is there. If you're looking to provide more self-serve options to employees and free up your HR team/individual to do more on the strategy and development side of HR, BambooHR can definitely help with that. Ultimately, you need to consider the ROI on BambooHR and whether its implementation will provide the right amount of benefits to justify the change overall, which may be harder than it sounds in some cases.

For a small business needing an ATS, the price was reasonable and the product provided solid functionality. A bigger business may find that they grow out of the system or need more integrations than Recruiterbox offered.

  • Helpful homepage that includes lots of useful information at a glance. I especially like the "Who's Out" section which shows photos of all the employees not in the office. Because we are a global company with lots of offices in different time zones, it's essential to know who's on vacation for communication purposes.
  • The interface is very user friendly. The functionality felt intuitive the first time I used it: I instantly knew how to request time off, look up other employees, etc.
  • The employee directory is very useful. It displays everyone's title, photo, LinkedIn, contact info, etc. It's easy to search by name, title, department, etc. and to create custom filters.

  • There's a "social footprint" kind of feature that scrubs popular social media tools for content, and aggregates this on the candidate page for a complete view of the candidate's personal brand. That was neat.
  • The email and calendar integration was well done. Most people want simple communications (the ability to respond to a candidate from the email client on your mobile device, without the hassle of logging into a platform). The ability to discreetly communicate with the candidates, while maintaining the tags and communications thread on the candidates page was gold. It reminded me a lot of central desktop by how smartly it was executed.
  • Increasing reach by blasting the job to multiple job boards (this was included in one of the subscriptions). Great timesaver.

  • I found the playform not so intuitive when it came to customizing user role permissions. Again, I had no formal training, so I suspect this is more user inexperience vs a system issue.
  • Very minor, but to access the main company calendar you have to hover over a particular section of the homepage. Employees would often struggle to find this.
  • I honestly cannot think of anything else. It really is a well thought out and designed platform.

  • Filters on candidates and openings: Sometimes it can be confusing when filters are not turned on correctly (which is very easy to miss), which means that the wrong candidate or opening results will appear.
  • Search: Sometimes candidates won't show up in a search (based on what page you're on), but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when they do or don't show up.
  • Multiple applications (Recruiterbox calls these "copies"): While it's helpful that a little symbol will show up next to an applicant's name if they're in the system multiple times, I think there could be a better way from a UX perspective to integrate this feature, as sometimes it can be for the same position, sometimes it can be across multiple positions, and sometimes it can be over the course of a number of years.

I like the fact that they keep sending you new information and keep you up to date to interesting Human Resource subjects of what's happening on the market . It is also a very dynamic and "young" platform with easy to read materials. the website, the colors and the front used is also very attractive and make the overall product very desirable.

We have not renewed our subscription for Recruiterbox. Although it is a great platform with great customer service, it does not have the functionality our company needs to be able to scale and there weren't plans to develop that functionality soon.

All of these help in improving the usability of the platform and ensure that all users are comfortable with the platform.

  • We had had an overall good experience; however, when there have been a handful of times when errors occurred in reports after payroll processing, and it has sometimes been difficult to get responses from support promptly.
  • We had a significant issue with 1099 processing as there was a printing error on Bamboo's side; however, despite our reaching out to check the status, the rep communicated a timeline that was not met. We were not contacted until the day before the IRS deadline that our 1099's were not printed and would not be processed in time. This specific situation has caused us to prepare our 1099's in the future either internally or through another party.

I would say they both have a lot of strengths for sure. Workday manages data on a mass scale a little bit better in my opinion, but Bamboo HR is more user friendly and pleasing to the eyes

We are now considering moving away from Recruiterbox, with some reluctance, because of the duplicate candidate issue, and because we are struggling to keep it in sync with our mass mailer. We are 99% moving to iCIMS where this is all integrated.

  • The less time our employees need to go to HR for questions and requests, the faster we are able to move and get things done which allow for people to continue working on their day to day jobs. We have insight into when people will be in and out of the office and can schedule things accordingly. All around insight into employee information is fantastic. Great product.

  • Increased efficiency. Huge timesaver (the organization's hiring managers were previously managing interviews mostly via email).
  • Positive and (slightly negative) culture shock. Slightly negative means there were just a couple of early hiccups before everyone understood how to use it. For example, having an internal discussion about the candidate was possible (there was an internal notes section in the web portal just for this purpose) but because of the very uniform appearance of the layout on the candidate page, if you're not paying attention, it can be easily confused with the candidate thread--and thus lead to a misfire. No bueno. The positive side of this is that it inspired greater adherence to process.
  • It boosted the quality of the candidate experience. It's certainly a credibility booster when you have (and use!) a tool that helps you to be more responsive and orderly in how you engage talent. It's important to honor the candidate's time as well.
