Barracuda Impersonation Protection vs. Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security

I am not sure how I can put this any more clearly, until we deployed this product we were swamped by phishing and spear-phishing attacks. After testing the free version, I had all the info I needed to sell this to my boss; the product ID'd users and it started blocking attempts. I walked in with a stack of 60+ blocks and told my boss, "we need this." She agreed to pay for it and overnight our phishing and spear-phishing attempts dropped by 75%+. From where we were, to where we are now, with the AI learning our users and our environment, these attempts have dropped by 90-95%+. An amazing product.

Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security is well suited for bigger companies with huge numbers of incoming and outgoing emails. It is really easy to configure, and once setup, there is not much to be done. So this requires minimal administration efforts. However, as the reporting is weak, if this is essential for a company, then it would be better to look into other alternatives.

• Deep Discovery analyzer provides sandboxing and deep threat analyses
• DLP capabilities are also good. It has a number of pre defined DLP templates
• Works very well against targeted attacks
• Lowers impact at the email gateway as it filters away the email in the cloud

• It would be great if some more rule intelligence could be added.

We've had the product for 2-years now, I am not going back to where I was when I wasn't using this.

Support from Barracuda, in all departments, has been exceptional. They are quick to respond, they are attentive and they have been courteous. I have nothing but the best things to say about their staff. My only issue is that their ticketing system needs to better identify a cloud user versus a physical hardware user.

Easy to use, easy to pull data, easy to see what is going on in our specific environment.

We have been a long-standing customer of Barracuda Backups Cloud to Cloud and Main Backups so this was a logical extension of what we had already been doing and the positive results we had been receiving on the other products

Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security is much cheaper than Kasprsky Security for Email Server. Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security is easier to install and the maintenance effort required is much less than this required by Kasprsky Security for Email Server. However Kasprsky Security for Email Server does have a better GUI and does indeed offer a better protection degree. However, taking into account that both were tested behind a firewall, most of the threats had already been eliminated there...

It is 1 setting for your environment. so flexibility is low (but not necessary). I have not yet noticed any delays due to sentinel
