It is an absolute must in all organizations where security is taken seriously. For organizations where there is a tendency among the users' end to abuse access privileges, this tool comes in handy. It has features that would enable the administrator to look through video logs to see what was done by a specific user. Also has the capability to terminate or lock users/ user sessions.

If an organization seeks an asset management tool with features like asset inventory, software inventory, and hardware inventory, ManageEngine Endpoint Central is a suitable choice. However, if the requirement extends to replacing tools such as a service desk, ManageEngine Endpoint Central may not fulfill this need. While it excels in asset management capabilities, it lacks the functionality to serve as a comprehensive service desk replacement, making it essential to evaluate specific requirements before selection.

  • product support - the technicians at ManageEngine Endpoint Central are very knowledgeable when it comes to the system- I have never had an issue not fixed promptly by them
  • The OS deployment tool saves us a significant amount of time and man hours in deploying machines- from manual setups taking 1-2 hours to complete per device, to 6 minutes each, is all the proof you need
  • Being able to remotely and silently install packages of software e.g Foxit PDF viewer, means we can instantly give hundreds or even thousands of machines a piece of software that before using EC, would have taken weeks to do, even with multiple technicians

Cons
BeyondTrust
  • Better communication to customers on new release compatibility
  • Crowd-sourced rule logic for specific applications would be nice (I hear underway)
  • Technical support processes could be a bit improved

  • Better remote access, sometimes manage engine will not be running in services and I can't remote in.
  • Pop-up when I'm trying to work, no I don't want to learn about a new feature while trying to solve an emergency.
  • Hard to onboard a computer if it doesn't automatically go.

Usability
BeyondTrust
BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management is really usable thanks to the Cloud platform that provide central management, analytics, updates and policy definitions. For policies, quickstart covers around 80% of the overall configuration and we just have to define home made applications and dedicated use cases. From the user perspective, messages can be customized so it's easy to understand for user and they have an endpoint application to follow workflows approval.

The user interface is clear and well organised. Having spent over 3 years using this, I can find anything I need and this assists me in my role. One feature that I use a lot is deployment policies. This helps me pick a more precise time to install patches. I struggle to do this in Intune.

The local distributor of the product is always available, however most support is received within an hour from India. We've had complex requirements and the support team went so far as to customize their mobile application to suit our unique needs. We honestly can't complain about any support we've received and it's always been very quick.

In-Person Training
BeyondTrust
The in person training was great. Very informative and the trainer was great. I would highly recommend this option if you're hesitant. Any questions can then be directed to support. Support is great as well, and will definitely help answer any questions. I would definitely
recommend adding some type of training as it was very helpful for our
staff.

BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management has more features than CyberArk and more detailed options for configurations. BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management is more focused on setting up access-related endpoints, which requires some fine tuning and understanding for use cases where a single endpoint has to be shared with multiple vendors. CyberArk's setup is more geared to users' accounts and then endpoint management under the user accounts.

The reporting on scripts is far better in ManageEngine, always showing the latest result. Unlike Intune which can run a script every day, but the "Report" only shows the result from the first time the script ran, it never refreshes. When we have had issues where the LAPS password or Bitlocker recovery keys in Intune were not working, ManageEngine always had the latest, correct info which worked. The built-in application updates for 3rd party applications are a huge time-saver, something Intune does not have. The browser & extension management are much more granular in ManageEngine. When you tell a device to scan in ManageEngine, you know it will scan immediately and provide accurate information. Whereas Intune can take hours or even days to scan, and the info from the "latest" scan can sometimes be outdated. ManageEngine allows you to "Deploy immediately", whereas Intune has no such option. You know that the ME agent will always push the script within X number of minutes, whereas it is random with Intune. We also have tried PDQ products however the agent does not compare at all to Endpoint Central, it is years behind. The PDQ licensing is expensive for the limited feature set, e.g. requiring you set up your own custom detection scripts to determine if a device needs particular software. ManageEngine knows exactly which patches are missing from where, has an easy button to deploy to them, and plenty of useful reports.

  • Our security posture is easy to see and act upon as you have a single place to look at all machines vulnerabilities. This helps us when it comes to security audits as we are able to demonstrate the value of the application.
  • Remote support is inbuilt and easy to use as you can just hop onto any agented machine and control it directly without asking for codes or getting people to visit a specific website.
  • We were able to mass install various applications to client machines over the years and the time and cost saved by not having to visit remote machines in different countries has proved invaluable.
