If you're a large company with at least 100 products, BigCommerce would be right for you. When compared to WordPress websites, you don't need to know anything technical in order to add/remove/edit products or do anything with your site. Their interface makes it easy to add products without having to know PHP or any other programming language.

If you're a mid-size to larger business and rely on regular email engagement from customers, then Bronto Marketing Platform could be a potentially great partner if not game-changer for how you've been doing email campaign management previously. Their automation tools and development interface is amicable. The amount of data that's collected and available from engagement with subscribers through their tools can be overwhelming. Still, if you enjoy digging into every kernel of possible user activity information, you'll love it.

  • Admin Panel (somewhat subjective, but I find it better than Magento and Shopify)
  • Price (almost half the price of Shopify Plus in our case)
  • Community Resources (e.g. forums, monthly townhalls, private Facebook group, etc.)
  • Apps/Plugins (they have most all the popular ones)

  • It's easy to work with – it has seamless integration across all platforms, which helps when you're working with big clientele.
  • It's logically organized, which can't be said of all ESP's.
  • It has the LIVE CHAT support. A lot of email marketing clients simply don't have that. It's the little things!

  • Steep learning curve - if you have a web/IT person, great, you're golden. If you're just starting out, or switching from a platform that's a little more plug-n-play, you'll discover that along with the robustness of BC comes it's many, many different choices. Which is great....and a bit overwhelming. It IS easy to learn though, just keep plugging away at it and don't be afraid to ask for help through the community, the help desk, or the web!

  • Segmenting- although there's a lot that can be done with segmenting audiences, there's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to setting up segments. Wish it was more intuitive.
  • Workflows- setting up automation workflows requires some practice and I've needed to consult a Bronto support person each time I set up a new workflow.
  • Bronto Pop-up manager- we use this feature, not sure how common it is among Bronto clients, but there is overall some improvement needed with this tool. There is limited capability to update the look and feel of the pop-up manager, and we've run into some conflicts with other pop-ups on our website interfering with the Bronto pop-up.

We are really very likely to renew our use of BigCommerce. The reason I chose 9 instead of 10 is simply because of the hiccups we are running into with our POS. BigCommerce is excellent, but we may even want to take a step further and get into and ERP that can take care of everything. Since we are a brick & mortar store first, and eCommerce second, our POS is very important to our day to day operations

Never really had any issues that caused out-of-the-ordinary frustration levels. Of course, you'll have days where the learning curve of using a tool gets challenging. Still, I don't remember ever really coming across an obstacle or roadblock while using the tool because of a feature or function it just couldn't do successfully or at all. Customer support was always available as needed, and it was generally easy to find answers to questions when they arose.

As with any system you use often, you find many things you like, you dislike, or things you would do differently. In general I think BigCommerce is one of the easiest ecommerce website platforms on the market to build a good looking and functioning site. The whole process is optimized so a non-coder should be able to get the site up and running. Coding needed is very limited (if any), and for many code-heavy issues there are solutions through the Apps Marketplace or the community message boards.

They used to be good, but they've evolved into a monolithic bureaucratic nightmare after the Netsuite / Oracle acquisition. Can't talk to anyone that actually knows the system and support tickets seem to go days or weeks without responses and resolution.

They have a comprehensive online help file system that makes it easy to do almost anything. They cover just about everything you'd want to do with your online store with images, clear descriptions and in some cases video. I will, however, say the videos should be a little more professorially done and not sound like the employees are doing it in their cubical.

BigCommerce is way better than 3dcart, it was comparable to Shopify but with the new product promotions available it is better than Shopify now. It is better than Magento in that you do not need dedicated programmers to make simple changes to your store

Bronto hits the sweet spot for us. It is most similar to the Salesforce family of products. Salesforce however can feel cluttered and configuration and setup can be time consuming and confusing. Bronto is much more streamlined and also has features built in that may require additional purchases in the Salesforce world. Adobe Campaign is a very powerful solution and can do many things hard to achieve in Bronto. However, Campaign is much more of a developer tool where Bronto is easy to learn and use right out of the box.

BigCommerce has a monthly "Town Hall" meeting where they show what they are working on, what projects are in the pipeline and what they are doing to increase the useability and functionality of the platform.There is a Q&A session at the end where users can ask about specific projects or progress. Each and every session, there is significant progress on ease of use, dedicated platform support in both hardware - redundant server farms, partnering with Google Cloud, identifying and mitigating DDOS attacks in under 200msec, quadrupling server capacity for large traffic times i.e. Black Friday week, etc.—that makes seamless scaling possible.

  • Minimizing time spent on page setup by utilizing themes already provided by BigCommerce allows time and effort to be spent elsewhere.
  • Without a current eCommerce employee, promotions, product updates, and changes would not have been possible without much time spent and at a very high cost to our company without BigCommerce to execute the necessary changes.

  • Offering great reporting for tracking everything. I can see what emails are working (I track on a monthly basis) and what people are clicking.
  • A/B split testing lets us try different things. Try this and that.
  • Creating lists and segments of subscribers lets us look at who is the best performing contacts. Really get 'into the data' and understand what is working and what is not.
