For those using the events module, NetCommunity is great, though if you do a lot of walk/run type of events where individuals sponsor other individuals, something like TeamRaiser might make more sense. If you don't have the staff resources for web developers dedicated to fundraising tasks, then NetCommunity is a great tool. It's not as customisable as an experienced programmer/developer might want, but it still has a lot of options. It also has a lot of nuance, and if you cannot make an investment of time or money into getting staff trained, it's not going to work out well.

We've used EveryAction to successfully manage volunteer and supporter relationships both pre-pandemic and during the pandemic. It has an incredibly versatile array of features that make it incredibly useful for handling in-person and virtual engagement.We use EveryAction to process and record all of our credit card donations automatically, as well as to record any donations made in-kind or by check. We track every detail about our donors in this system, including notes from every call, whether they opened our emails, and every single point of contact with our organization in order to grow a large grassroots donor base.We also use EveryAction to manage our volunteers and supporters as they engage in program and advocacy work. We track event invitations and outcomes, tasks assigned and completed, and provide volunteers with phone- and text-banking tools entirely through EveryAction and its API-integrated partners like GetThru.We've also used this platform to manage political voter contacts for a ballot initiative campaign. With the help of this platform, we collected more than 190,000 signatures from registered voters across the state and passed on the ballot in 2018 (the first statewide initiative to pass since the year 2000).

Blackbaud NetCommunity

  • Data integration with The Raiser's Edge - data which is collected in Blackbaud NetCommunity directly integrates with The Raiser's Edge interface and can be seamlessly downloaded into the CRM.
  • Donation/Event/Membership registration - the product comes with out-of-the-box forms that can be used for these basic functions. They are flexible, but structured enough to integrate the data back to the CRM.
  • Email marketing - constituents can be emailed directly from the Blackbaud NetCommunity platform by querying the data available in the CRM. Targeted email communications can be setup as well as ongoing subscriptions/newsetters.
  • Content management - general tools to manage content are available. Business users can add/modify/delete this content without tremendous technical expertise. The content can also be shared across multiple websites - or A/B split tested to determine preference.
  • Friendly URLs - the product allows for friendly URLs that are also more searchable on the major search engines (i.e. Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.).

  • Migration was fast (~2 months) and included few pain points/surprises.
  • Very pleasant, modern, easy to use interface for Admin/back end.
  • Pretty easy and good integration with our existing technology (Drupal, Google Analytics, etc.).
  • Ability to pull relevant reports/data is pretty straightforward and flexible.
  • Built in tool to merge duplicate contacts is fairly robust.

  • NetCommunity has very simple analytics. It would be great to be able to see more in depth information on how constituents are reacting to the email they receive.
  • Though it is simple to construct an email, making a complex design can be challenging due to the limitations of the design tool.
  • Although A/B testing is available within NetCommunity, it is not easy to set up.

  • EA doesn't have functionality to bulk delete contacts, I think this needs to be improved and resolved.
  • System doesn't have functionality to merge duplicate contacts in a batch which is cumbersome and time consuming.
  • The language functionality is challenging, you need to contact customer support to enable additional language to your environment.

The only reason for this is due to the fact that we are only using the product for a specific purpose that is not directly tied to the newsletters. There are better products out there for what we are doing with grant processing. We will most likely move to a new software instead of renewing for our purposes

Product is stable is up 99.99% of the time. As a hosted customer, we do experience some minor downtime when routers or switches malfunction. We feel the downtime has been minimal and the communications around these outages has been good.

We haven't had much trouble with EveryAction's uptime. There have only been a handful of times that it has been down in the year that we've used it, and in those times it is back up in a couple hours. The reason I gave it a 7 is because their support can be slow to resolve problems. If the question is not a quick answer, then support tickets can take around 4 business days to get a response.

Blackbaud NetCommunity and all of the Blackbaud products have a great support system. Blackbaud NetCommunity offers support through phone calls, chats, online, and email. Their response time is very quick and the support analysts work with you to resolve issues in a very timely matter. If they do not personally know the answer they will direct you to another support analyst that will be able to assist in a resolution.

Support is really good. The answers are always extremely helpful and really walk you through all the steps necessary to answer your questions. I do wish they had capacity for a live chat feature to allow for quicker responses because occasionally there can be a bit of a lag of a day or so to get a response.

They went through all the features and explained in easy-to-digest details what features the system had. They were also responsive to questions we had. We were able to check in with the support team after training and received prompt followups that helped supplement the training after we had real-world experience using the system.

I truly wish that "0" was an option. I never really pin-pointed whether the implementation issues that we had were caused by Blackbaud, or if it was part of a larger issue that began in-house.

Implementation was fairly easy, we paid for the import of our data, but I did find some problems afterwards that I thought we were going to avoid with experienced staff doing the upload and advising us on which fields would fit best with our data. Our original data came with 2 people listed per address: EveryAction separated them into 2 records, but then did not put them into households, so that was a problem for a while with mailings until we figured out what happened (and EA support fixed it). But now both members of each household have all emails that were in the one original record, so I need to eventually fix that too. When we paid EA to upload for us, I thought they would tell us about these things and help us break down the data better so I wouldn't have these types of issue later.Our original sales person led us to believe we could download .iif files for QuickBooks, like we could in DonorPerfect, which did not turn out to be true. Having to quickly figure out a way to convert those on my own was stressful and took a lot of work (still takes a lot of work every month).

We tried to use this for a while and actually had different groups set up to begin implementing the interface into our computer but for some reason, we could not get a handle on it. iMIS ended up winning out in the long run because it was easier for people of all generations to use and understand. People just preferred the layout and the usability so ultimately it was kept as our main system.

We experienced an outage at Salsa CRM + Engage on Giving Tuesday a couple of years ago that greatly impacted our fundraising efforts - this was the main reason we wanted to switch out of Salsa. EveryAction has greatly helped us with our fundraising efforts - in saving time, money, and the ease of use. Now that EveryAction has drag and drop capabilities for emails, it is just as useful as Salsa Engage - and it's all one system that integrates well.

  • We were able to purchase a package integrating all types of Blackbaud products which integrate.
  • We are able to update our desktop, mobile donation pages which allow us to take donations while having great support available at all times.
  • The donation forms and email tools are not very visually appealing and user-friendly so this makes it difficult to implement and in return donors don't have a user-friendly experience.

  • It has definitely improved fundraising performance because we are better able to track the success of specific campaigns and adapt future efforts based on what we learn.
  • It has also been more efficient for us to keep all the information about our various types of supporters in one CRM rather than managing multiple databases and multiple platforms that are not integrated.
  • We have also improved the effectiveness of our advocacy campaigns because we can try different approaches and better track how successful different approaches have been.
