Sage Intacct is a cloud ERP system targeted at high-growth small and medium-sized businesses. Intacct includes applications for core financials and accounting, purchasing, order management, and financial reporting and business intelligence. It also integrates with 3rd party software like Salesforce.
Braintree is a lower cost alternative to many of the options business owners have through their bank. However, they will need to be techy or be working with a developer to set up. The setup and backend isn't as user friendly as alternatives. Braintree is a great option if you'll need to manually type in credit card details. Banks will sometimes charge a lot more for that option. The manual option is nice if your clients aren't as tech savvy and prefer to pay over the phone than to pay on your website.
It worked well for our company, and we have multiple entities in multiple industries. The hardest part of our implementation was combining all 40 charts of accounts into one big one, so I would be careful with that for sure. The other big hiccup was with a third party that was not as ready for the go-live date as they indicated, so I would say just keep on top of them, especially if they do not have direct API integration.
Braintree has excellent integration with the BigCommerce platform. The switch of our previous payment processing gateway to Braintree was very easy and only required a few clicks.
Tying into Braintree's BigCommerce integration, for company's like ours that are on the BigCommerce enterprise plan, Braintree's rates for BigCommerce enterprise customers are extremely competitive and saved us money.
Braintree has a pretty easy to use portal that can be accessed through the same login we use for PayPal which we are using in conjunction with Braintree with ease.
I've only had to call Braintree twice and my customer service issues were handled extremely quickly and easily.
The drill down feature is phenomenal; I previously exported data to Excel and summarized using pivot tables and with the reporting capability and flexibility at my fingertips, I have to power to enable other users to drilldown and lookup status of payment requests and such independently.
I have to spend a good amount of time going into scheduled reports individually to change the subject, date, etc. I would like to make the change once and impact an entire group of scheduled reports. Maybe be able to control the time of day the reports go out instead of when they do go out now.
Sage Intacct is continuously evolving and increasing it's functionalities. I am excited to attend conferences to learn what is in the roadmap for future releases. Additionally, using Sage Intacct allows me grow as a professional, I am really enjoy the knowledge that I have within the product to be able to share my experiences.
The ease of use as a seasoned user is wonderful; however, new users struggle to adapt to the program efficiently. Better training videos--all in one location--would be beneficial. The use of a "sandbox" environment is a great tool for new employees or for the fiscal department to test certain journal entries or other transactions to verify accuracy of data.
There has only been one occurrence where Sage Intacct was not available to me, however I had already been working a number of hours trying to get a project completed. It honestly allowed me to step back and take a much needed break.
As fas as integration is concerned I don't feel this slows Sage Intacct down at all. However, sometimes I do feel it takes some larger reports more time to load due to all the detail. As well as, I "move very fast" in my motions so sometimes I double click on fuctions too quickly and the system seems to think that I have a duplicate request.
Their support is a joke. There's nothing "supportive" about them. Every time I call in with an issue no one has an answer or even a recommendation. I am put on hold and no one ever comes back. It's time to find another processor.
Only a few times have we had to reach out to support, and every time we did, we received a relatively quick response and a solution was found fairly quickly. Only once was there an issue that took longer than a week to resolve, but it still did eventually get solved.
I have taken in person training classes at several of the annual Sage Intacct user conferences. It is very interactive and the trainers are very easy to follow and understand. They are great at getting everyone in the class involved. They also make sure everyone has learned to task before moving to a new one.
It was great for generic training but we had the system modified by our third party implementer and a lot of that was not covered in various training's that we received or took online. Attended Advantage last year and that as super helpful in learning a lot of the intricacies of the system.
I would not use a thrid party administrator to implement your system, especially if you are going to be modifying the system at all. Use Intacct implementors as they will be able to better support you on any issues that come up after you go live.
Braintree is better at handling international payments and supporting a variety of payment methods that can all be configured from the same dashboard. Braintree supports PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc. in addition to simply credit cards like Stripe. Braintree has a vault of existing user payment methods so the user doesn't have to re-enter their information each time.
Sage Intacct is more user-friendly compared to NetSuite however, I prefer NetSuite's report builder. Sage Intacct has multiple report builders but it is often a learning process to know which ones to use and you may find yourself switching between the two tools often. Although, NetSuite shows comparative financials and multiple currencies without needing to create a custom report. Sage Intacct's help and support are a lot easier to work with compared to NetSuite. The rest of the modules are virtually identical; so it comes down to the trade-off between these two features.
It has been very helpful to have [...] software that has more remote capabilities since more people are working remote these days - approvals can be done in the system.
It is helpful to be able to attach documents to an entry, such as a JE or an AP invoice.
Training on the program is expensive (at least for a fairly small nonprofit organization!), so it has been a little difficult to learn on our own as we go - not everything is as intuitive as you would expect it to be.
