SAP SuccessFactors is a suite of HR/HCM products covering these capability areas: core HR and payroll, recruiting and onboarding, learning and development, performance and compensation management, workforce analytics and planning, and employee experience management.
Bridge is suited for scenarios where you need ppl to complete steps in order or test that they received the correct amount of knowledge after watching a video. I do think Bridge is less appropriate for companies that use it in external training scenarios as there is some key functionality missing. We gotten very good at brainstorming and finding solutions/ways to get Bridge to work the way that we need it to
The easy to use interface and visualization experience for people using SAP SuccessFactors is one of the best in the competition. Many of the day to day operations could be done on the go without logging in into laptops and it works seamlessly. Analytics on data that gets generated can also be used very effectively in the module itself. Further integration with SAP Analytics Cloud opens up the possibilities of integrating HR data with other data sources from external world to derive meaningful and timely insights which helps take informed decisions
Bridge is designed for the user so it is intuitive and easy to use.
Bridge includes an authoring tool so building custom content is fast and easy.
Bridge does a good job of providing user information for managers. Managers can quickly and easily see how many courses their reports are enrolled in and if anyone is overdue on required courses.
Bridge is also built with learning science in mind. There are multiple options for assessments, including an option for verified tasks to be completed to demonstrate proficiency.
Its a SAAS model. The licensing cost of Success Factors is very reasonable compared to the on-premise SAP systems. So any customer who wants to come out of Success Factors can easily do it. This attracts customer to easily go for the new implementation.
The web portal of Success Factors applications is very user friendly.
It has seamless integration with all the mobile/PDA devises. This gives easy access to the business applications of it.
The JAM feature allows easy collaboration internally. Also it has seamless integration with Social networking sites.
It can be used by multiple tenants (customers).
Best part of using SuccessFactors is its connection to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAP) for detailed visualizations of all modules used using Ember Analytics.
Bridge could improve their categorization feature for trainings; folders would be great!
I'd like to see more ways to add content in the Bridge native environment in the future. Being able to create tables, infographics, and other training materials right in the system would be a great time saver.
Sometimes products are rolled out too fast - resulting in critical missing config options (ONB 2.0 as a great example). These missing configs can be highly dysfunctional until they are resolved - to avoid this, I recommend not using any product that hasn’t been established and fully supported for at least 2 years.
Performance and recruitment are still using a legacy XML supported format - which is fine end user functionality wise, but can be complex to support from an admin perspective - certain areas of these modules require partner support if you want to make upgrades or changes.
SF does a tremendous job at bell and whistle functionality - I often find most companies are not able to leverage more than 50-75% of the offerings though. There are however core functions or areas for improvement that are significantly less shiny but are much needed in various modules.
It has been very useful to our organization in getting compliance training complete. We have a 24/7/365 organization with some folks only working 2 days a week during the summer only, many work full-time jobs elsewhere and can't make weekday programs and facilities don't have to alter schedules to get mass numbers of people through training like you have to do with live training..
Support is still lacking. If we don't have a critical business need where we're looking to license something new, there is no partnership with SuccessFactors. Unless of course you purchase the Platinum Support which we did not. It is difficult for us to take advantage of new functionality when we have professional services fees that will be incurred as a result. We're in a tough economy and our budgets are slim. We don't have wiggle room to add $5k here or $10k there. The overall integration into a total HCM solution is also lacking.
SuccessFactors Employee Central gets a middle of the road rating from me because of the things it does really well - Training. It falls short with the objectives cascade and visibility amongst my reports. That's what brings it down to a 5. Objectives need to be clear and concise in order to gain buy-in from your reports, and SuccessFactors muddies that by poor delineation between cascaded attributes and my report's objectives. The whole objectives cascade can be reworked.
Our previous LMS was Symphony. Hands down, there is no comparison. Switching to Bridge was the best decision made by our management team. All we used Symphony for was for our monthly compliance training. Many times people would complain that they would need to retake their compliance course as Symphony would lose records. It became a hassle having to retake a course because you didn't save a copy of the completion certificate. Bridge allows for more than just compliance training AND we are able to see if learners didn't complete their courses via the reports.
We believe that all top global providers that complete with SAP, are in the same level in terms of the main functionalities for supporting HR processes. SAP seemed to be more robust on each process, and more consistent when considering best practices applied to their modules. It may be hard to use sometimes, but it certainly has good answers to support a wide variety of scenarios and specific business needs
Certainly, Bridge was not an inexpensive option when we were reviewing platforms. To date, we have not seen a positive ROI but believe that will happen in the near future as we expand an offering of an additional program.
Reviews from our users indicate that they appreciate the professional and easy to use features Bridge provides, along with the video based design of the program.
The program we developed with the Bridge platform supports our position as educators in our industry.
