Cisco IP Phone 6800 Series

Great for group calls - the rollover feature is good. It makes it easy to have hotlines. The audio is clear and consistent. Easy to access voice messages and you can see you have voice messages without having to dial in through your number. The speed dial is easy to use - this comes in handy because we are often calling the same departments over and over - with a touch of a button we are able to connect right away; with out looking at a hand out for the digits.

If you are looking for a strong product that is highly customizable, Onebox is a great choice. It can be difficult to navigate, but almost every feature you would need is included somewhere.

  • Very detailed scheduling for call routing. You can schedule a different hunt group every 15 minutes or more granular if you choose. It is flexible enough to meet the needs of any organization.
  • Personal attendant. You can customize the message and customize which number is displayed, either your number or the number of the caller.
  • Setting up hunt group is very easy. You can also customize how the numbers in the hunt group are called. You can set up sequential dialing or "blast" dialing. You can also get as granular as setting up how many rings it will try for each number before continuing on.

  • The scheduling is very granular, but the interface for setting up the schedule isn't the easiest to navigate.
  • I would like the ability to copy or clone schedules. We have 3 different schedules on three different hunt groups and when there are changes to be made, I would like to be able to make the change on one schedule and copy that for another hunt group.
  • The interface for the users to change some of their settings (password, phone, email, etc) isn't very user friendly. I usually have to walk users through changes, and at that point, it is easier for me to just make the changes myself.

Alternatives Considered

Cisco IP Phone 6800 Series

It's less expensive, more compact but not as robust and well-adopted/supported since Spectralink kind of owns the industry. Cisco needs to make more of these lines of DECT phones in order to compete.

I was not an employee when Onebox was selected, but I have used Avaya and Nortel PBXs in the past and while it is not as powerful, it has a lot of great features and a much lower cost of entry.

Cisco IP Phone 6800 Series

  • I set up the desk for new hires in our group - it is super easy to plug in this phone and have them up and running.
  • Having the ability to pre-program speed dial numbers ensures that new hires are able to reach help without having to search for a number.
  • The ability to program ring tones is great, so if we are in the shared space meeting and we hear a phone ring, we know who's phone is ringing - the meeting can go on without everyone leaving to check.
