Cisco Jabber

I
would say that this tool is a very useful and pronounced tool that yields many
advantages for businesses. The great thing about this tool is that the entire
organization can work with this software just for the sake of better
integration and still there would be no issues. Altogether, it is a top-notch platform that should be adopted by companies for a better collaborative
environment.

Team Messengr

Team Messengr is a really great tool for our company because we have lots of employees in lots of different departments. Being able to send a message that goes to a specific small set of people is really useful. Some information is not relevant for all employees and it is necessary to exclude them for privacy reasons or just to keep from cluttering their workspace. TM does this very well.I'm not sure it would be useful for a very small office or company that doesn't need to communicate across different locations/states/countries.

Pros

Cisco Jabber

  • Integrates well with the actual Cisco phone so the calls can be taken directly from the computer.
  • Integrates well with Microsoft, so when you're on a call, for example, your status as "on-call" is shared with Microsoft products (e.g. Microsoft Teams).
  • Simple Sign-in, there is no need to have separate accounts for Cisco Jabber itself. We've used the current Active Directory user credentials to login into the Cisco Jabber.

  • Mobile integration is great
  • Great UX makes it easy to organize conversations and projects
  • Pricing is better than Slack and others.

Cons

Cisco Jabber

  • I have some issue about the reporting. It does not give clear idea about the whole day working of the team but I have to figure out separately what my team was up to and this makes it a complex tool if I want to relay on it as an analytical tool.
  • Its customer support is lazy and does not resolve problems properly. Overall they take much of my time.

Team Messengr

  • Doesn't yet integrate with JIRA or Confluence, which means we still have to go directly into those systems to collaborate with our Product team.
  • It requires you to add a photo for the coworker directory. I see why this is helpful for searching, but I just hate having to look at my own photo whenever I'm chatting with someone.
  • Can be hard to use on an iPad or Macbook Air or Chromebook due to high memory usage.

We really like the flexibility of jabber. With the exception of a few quirks that we have found, we see a bright future with it. We depend on it daily and will continue to do so for several years to come. As our team grows, more users will be using it and more screen sharing will be done. It it an indispensable tool that we simply could not imagine going without. It makes communicating so much easier when time is of the essence.

There are still some improvements to be made between MAC and Windows users. Also the share screen between various devices does not always work. Any user can quickly adapt and understand how to use Jabber. The interface is very intuitive and straight forward. The transition between interfaces on PCs, to tablets, to mobile devices is also very consistent and set up almost identically

Even with the Jabber client, Cisco support is outstanding, with the knowledge and quick response you would expect from them. Their engineers understand their products and our issues are usually addressed quickly and by the same person we originally connect with instead of getting passed to additional people. Follow-up is good too. Their support is thorough.

Alternatives Considered

Cisco Jabber

Cisco Jabber prevails over the Skype for Business option, particularly in those organizations where Cisco infrastructure exists, such as the Communications Manager suite, voice gateways and brand devices that use services for the PSTN, since integrations and interoperability are essential. practically native.
Additionally, it could be added that the support of the manufacturer, even the integrations towards other 3rd party vendors such as Microsoft, are very well developed.

In comparison to other products such as Jabber and Webex, this has been the best application. The price is similar but functionality is better

Return on Investment

Cisco Jabber

  • Its a tool that provides enhanced customer service capability to our user community. The users are able remain available while working in almost any location.
  • More work gets done when people can collaborate and communicate better. Our efficiency is increasing as we continue to roll out the application to our user community.

Team Messengr

  • Positive - less time wasted on emails
  • Positive - less expensive than having a chat tool and a video tool (and phones!)
  • Negative - sometimes tone is hard to convey in text, and this has led to a couple of misunderstandings
