We were using Skype for Business, but the ease of use and the functionality offered by Cisco WebEx was unparalleled. I am not sure how, but Cisco WebEx integrates much better with Outlook rather than Skype for Business - it is that easy to use. GoToMeeting is relatively good …

There are less expensive solutions that don't require any special equipment. If a company only needs teleconferencing or to share documents on screen but does not need video, one of these alternatives may work better. Even WebEx offers an alternative where you don't need any …

We had a conference room with a Radvision board that needed to be replaced. Our HQ is not fully Cisco but rather a mish mash of different products such as Rally bars, Poly, Radviison and Cisco. Putting Cisco into the conference room allowed us to have a single pane of glass for our needs.

I provide regular training as a big portion of my job. There is weekly training with an infinite number of users in attendance on any given date—GoTo Meeting is not the best option for this because I would have to mute users as they join the meeting. However, I also provide frequent training sessions to a small number of users that feature more individualized content, and having them able to mute/unmute at will is a better fit for a smaller group with in-depth materials.

Pros
Cisco
  • Captures everyone in the room with its wide angle camera automatically.
  • Counts the number of people in the video meeting.
  • Puts the camera focus on the person who is speaking.
  • Enhances the live meeting video experience with its AI features.
  • Removes the overheads of manually setting up cameras and adjusting them.

  • Excellent audio and video quality.
  • Functional and easy-to-use screen-sharing feature for product demonstrations and presentations.
  • Possibility of recording meetings that we can later review and share with those who could not attend.
  • Possibility of managing the microphone of the participants in host mode so as not to disturb the entire event.

Cons
Cisco
  • Perhaps any downside I might see is not necessarily with this product, it's more interoperability with other products. And I think these are all roadmap items that are being addressed. For instance, when you're in a Cisco meeting, it's not as feature rich as it might be as if you joined from a computer. However, as I said, these seem to be roadmap items which are coming along soon. Things like integration with the text or chat rather in a meeting, and also whiteboard integration.

  • We occasionally experience slow performance during screen sharing.
  • The help center should have detailed tutorials on commonly asked FAQs and also to initially set up the profile.
  • One of my initial thoughts regarding recordings was to edit them in the future when the product changes.

By the time we are up for an upgrade, this particular series of products might not even been in the market. The typical product cycle for such products in the market are about 5 years. More importantly, the codec supported by such devices may also change by the time we are up for an upgrade. Even so, getting this system to a level of functionality we require was a frustrating ordeal that I do not look forward to during the next cycle.

We used other software like goto meetings but found it best because of its user friendly interface and easy interfacing. It helped us in COVID and now we can say we are depending on it and love it. We recommend it to our friends company and they are also using it. It is very affordable and easy to integrate with system

Usability
Cisco
A lot of the features are really easy. You can just click connect and you're in. But using all of these other integrations and all these other features that are there, it's kind of the blind leading the blind as to how we use it. So it's probably the downside of it.

The simplicity of GoToMeetings desktop, mobile, and web-based applications make it a very robust and user-friendly meeting solution. At times, it may be more complex than needed, but it is nice to have so many features that can be used if needed. Once installed, it is very easy to use and navigate.

Support Rating
Cisco
Cisco has always stood out for the excellent support and documentation on its products, this is one of the reasons why they are so well positioned. The means by which you can create a case and the response times are very good. I especially like the support through the Webex teams.

When we have issues, they seem to respond quickly and do everything they can to help us. They have even tried to find other ways we could get more use out of their product, or improve the way we are currently using it. Overall, their support has been fairly good for us.

As a partner, I always used mainly Cisco products and offered them to my customers. I have personal experience with Avaya, Team and polycom but non of them provided me with the Premium feelings which Cisco does. Even the product quality and look of the product by itself gives you the premium experience. But I want to mention that Polycom has some features and easy setup which Cisco lacks sometimes. It is mainly 3rd party integration.

Many times, it seems like GoTo Meeting requires less bandwidth to run. We noticed with a few test machines that if you have over twenty video streams, this product could handle the load better than if we used Microsoft Teams and had many video streams.

  • Any collaboration app these days are now a great addition for those organizations which have more than one office and they need to collaborate with each other.
  • GoTo Meeting can contribute to cost savings by reducing the need for extensive travel, accommodation, and related expenses associated with in-person meetings especially in case like us as we have multiple branches.
