Likelihood to Recommend Cisco Duo is extremely well-suited for someone wanting to add MFA to an on-premise Active Directory environment. Some of the other vendors in this space do provide this feature, but they do not natively support it. One of the top competitors in this space requires signing up with another third-party service to make this integration possible. Less moving parts for something as crucial as this is a huge benefit and having only one vendor to point fingers at makes troubleshooting much simpler.
Read full review Comprehensive threat prevention against a variety of threats, such as viruses, ransomware, and spyware is effectively provided by ESET PROTECT. The cross platform compatibility of this software is advantageous for business with diverse IT environments such as those combination of Windows, macOS, and Linux systems. Some industries, such highly regulated sectors with specific compliance needs, may find it more cost-effective, however it is less suitable for small enterprises with limited IT resources and for organizations with severe budgetary limits.

Read full review ESET provides comprehensive, transparent protection for my MacOS devices without interfering with the efficiency of my operating system. It's easy to install, configure (default settings are great for just about everyone), and update. ESET's customer communications, including a very detailed knowledge base online, make it clear I've chosen the right antivirus solution! Read full review Cons If you need to integrate some legacy applications to Cisco Secure Access by Duo, it's not easy. If you want to have more detailed information and reports, you need to pay more for the licensing. The basic option is not enough. A constraint could be that each employee has to install it on their personal smartphone, which some don't like. But, there is an alternative using SMS, although sometimes it takes too long to receive the message. Communication between PCs under the same network may be hindered, which may be an obstacle to verification. Read full review Likelihood to Renew There are a lot of competing solutions on the market; however, Duo "just works", and there is little to no learning curve for the new members to be acclimated to it. As long as that continues I see it as the preferred option moving forward

Read full review I'm giving it a 10, because I would totally have no reservations about staying on with eSet for another 3 years once our contract comes up for renewal. We are looking to transfer to a different product in January, however. This is due to a special pricing contract with the state of Ohio that made a normally much more expensive product very affordable and was cheaper than our coming eSet renewal cost. This is a very special case only available to government and educational organizations, but had that not been offered, we would have gladly stayed with eSet.
Read full review We had issues initially getting all of the policies implemented and working since it can be hard to figure out what setting is coming from what policy. Once you get your stack of policies setup and working, the product works great. The installers just work and knowing that they can remove other AV software when you install it can save you a lot of time and headaches.
Read full review Reliability and Availability In the last 5+ years we've been using Duo, there may have been 1 outage that impacted us. We do receive periodic notifications of issues but, for the most part, they impact carriers or functionality that we either don't use, or do not care about.
Read full review Performance We do not see any degradation of performance of the protected applications. There are occasional lags in receiving the push but no show stooppers.
Read full review Support Rating Since it’s a reputable company, I have received technical support when needed and I trust that if anything else happens I can contact them with any issues. I haven’t experienced bad customer service and I totally feel supported while using this authentication method. No complains so far and the high rating!
Read full review Excellent support from ESET and when we had questions regarding the initial deployment they were there. The questions we put forth were answered immediately with great detail. Any of the items we put forth, scenarios, were given a good solution from ESET to fit our needs. This company stands by their product and are happy to step up when needed.
Read full review In-Person Training There was no in person training but checking the box was the only way I could complete all of the questions.
Read full review Online Training This was not organized training but the videos that Duo provides to teach you how to install a particular integration are top notch.
Read full review Implementation Rating Implementation was straight forward and you can isolate different scenarios in order to test new application setup or add to an existing setup. Gui interface is pretty easy to understand and follow. I had no experience with Duo and still manage to easily set up new policies and rules.
Read full review Do the full scan at the beginning and be prepared to wait until it is done. It will find things you did not know were there. You can leave on the Apple firewall as well as the ESET firewall. There have been no conflicts. Remember to remove emails from being backed up, so you do not have spam on your backup! This was the mistake I made.
Read full review Alternatives Considered Our school is based in Microsoft 365. Azure has a product built into their licensing (provided you have purchased the appropriate level or the add-on product.) The MFA in Azure is a work in process and doesn't offer broad integration options as Duo does. We didn't look into any other commercial products.
Read full review We really like the lightness of ESET, this really is a differential in your favor, the way it operates quietly in the background even running a scan was something that interested us, nothing worse than an antivirus locking everything like a scan and still end up issuing scandalous false detections, in the end the choice was made by ESET much because of this differential.
Read full review Scalability So far, the only limits we've encountered were tied to our imagination. Duo's strong list of supported integrations is amazing.
Read full review Return on Investment Very positive ROI given it is inexpensive for a small group and helps us secure our most valuable IT assets. Lack of extreme policy granularity results in higher administrative overhead, as there is no middle ground (i.e. MFA every time or not at all). Read full review Stopped several malware outbreaks that would have had considerable downtime on endpoints. Stopped several ransomware attacks that would have potentially costs large sums of money and downtime. Allowed us to utilize Eset itself in lieu of a patchwork of platforms to accomplish the same tasks. Saving us several thousand per year. Read full review ScreenShots
