Cisco Secure Access by Duo
Cisco Secure Access by Duo is recommended if you need to enable multifactor authentication with no major effort to implement it, understanding you have to pay a license per user. It's important to mention that what you are paying gives you a lot of possibilities to enable SSO on your applications, even legacy systems., there is no need to pay extra for it. If you are looking for free or cheap software, Cisco Secure Access by Duo is not an option.

It's a very good tool for anyone in the industry who wants to deploy Multi Factor authentication to make their company safe and secure. It is best suited for companies where a majority of the workforce works in the field; and access to company data using internet can be a little risky. Imprivata One-sign will make the connection more secure and safe.

Pros
Cisco Secure Access by Duo
- It integrates very well with multiple products such as M365 and VMware
- It allows for multiple security options including hardware tokens and a phone app
- If users are locked out for whatever reason, it's easy to get them up and running again with the Duo admin dashboard

- Allows admins to enable single sign-on to additional applications without Imprivata services. After a quick training session with Imprivata, most admins are easily able to enable additional apps.
- Works well with many device types including Windows, IGEL, Teradici and many Linux based thin clients.
- High availability and failover. Imprivata's implementation of this was one of the most well thought out and easy to implement of any solutions in our stack. It works very similar to Active Directory, but requires no real config or settings to make it happen. Add an additional appliance and the enterprise is automatically synchronized. If an appliance goes down, client software is aware and automatically switched to another appliance.

Cons
Cisco Secure Access by Duo
- An extra step to configure when setting up with things like O365 products whereas the native client would have been easier.
- At the time of implementation it did not integrate with the rest of the cisco security suite.
- Documentation was light or lacking for any lesser known products.
- Had to configure ManageEngine as a "generic app" when doing SSO. Really need to build out the prebuilt app's base quicker for us lazy IT people.

- Building the application profiles is not always simple.
- Better application integration with Java would be beneficial.

Like all Cisco products, it can be a little difficult to configure and use properly. Once set up, it works like a charm, and we rarely have to reconfigure it or update it. We do wish it integrated better with our SonicWALL firewalls.

Most of my support has come from the pre-sales side, as I haven't done much with post-sales support. The engineer was helpful, though it would have been even better if he had more production experience. Hopefully the backing by Cisco will give Duo support the deep bench that one would expect out of Cisco.

Alternatives Considered
Cisco Secure Access by Duo
I think that Duo is better than SecureAuth because the interface is better. I like the usability better and I like the design and functionality better. I wasn't involved in the selection process and initially didn't want to make the switch because I had heard some complaints about Duo but now that I have used it for a couple of years I would definitely say it is better than what I was using.

None of the other toolsets offered Epic integration. I spent 9 months testing other SSO tools and found them to be slow and tied to specific tools and or workflows only. Imprivata OneSign was the only truly universal tool that I could find that was adaptable.
