Cisco Secure Endpoint (formerly Cisco AMP)

AMP has effectively cleaned malware on our endpoints. Unfortunately, there have been many false positives with no real explanation or detail. The engine that runs AMP is somewhat heavy on system resources, you should carefully consider the impact on production servers before deploying this to the enterprise. Since AMP is very configurable, it can be used in a variety of ways on any operating system or platform including iPhone, and Linux.

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection

I would absolutely recommend Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection to a colleague and I have recommended it to many of my peers in the IT world. Malwarebytes is well suited for any environment that requires protection from mal/ransomware which is most companies these days. In particular for companies that host their own big data that the operation of the company relies on. The only place Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection may not be AS appropriate would be one where there is near zero reliance on computers, networks and data.

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection

  • The biggest plus with this software is that you can manage all the clients from a management console. You can push the install/updates through it. If the client cannot connect to the management console, then it will update directly from their website. This means you are always up to date and protected.
  • The software on the client machine has very low overhead so it doesn't affect the performance.
  • You can create policies based on the types of users or by the department. You can customize these policies so it will let you micro-manage the clients.

Cons

Cisco Secure Endpoint (formerly Cisco AMP)

  • Event search function. The searching is very limited and allows for poor filtering choices.
  • Slowness. The web GUI is far slower than most Cisco products.
  • Sync issues. When attempting to move a device from one group to another or start isolation on a device, there is a sizable delay in communication with the device that can cause operations to fail.

  • Updates from one version to another can be challenging. Regular updates are a must.
  • We have not had any issues, but Malwarebytes has gotten some poor reviews on their support in industry publications.

The renewal decision is not up to me and also, the current economic situation might not allow renewal

I believe it is great for everything it is supposed to be doing. It is simple enough anyone could really manage it and yet has enough depth to allow for some of the advanced options. Navigating is very quick and easy and does everything you need so overall solid piece to add.

Like most Cisco products, Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) for Endpoints has a great knowledge base on Cisco's community portal, but unfortunately the Cisco support team cannot always clearly describe the solution for your issue, especially if it is related to the demo period. Nevertheless, Cisco goes to great efforts to improve your current situation with Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) for Endpoints support.

Whenever I've had a query for the support team, they have got back to me very quickly, and given me very well detailed advice on fixing whatever the issue I had was. They also pointed me to help documents and such where I could find more information if I needed

Alternatives Considered

Cisco Secure Endpoint (formerly Cisco AMP)

Being all products of a similar nature, Cisco Advance Malware Protection stands out for its simplicity, low resource consumption, reporting, work dashboards and integration with the rest of the already installed suit.
Those are the most notable aspects, although the rest of the solutions were very good, all the capabilities added together make this product surpassing.

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection

Avast and Bitdefender. Malwarebytes works well in the background, with little input require from the user. The software does not seem to slow down the network while it is scanning. The increase in security level justifies the upfront cost of implementing this type of protection

Return on Investment

Cisco Secure Endpoint (formerly Cisco AMP)

  • AMP has been able to catch some serious infections and stop them from doing huge damage in our environment.
  • The overall cost of AMP vs the cost of not having this protection and getting hit with malware, or other nefarious damage to your environment is well worth the money.

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection

  • Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection has had a HUGE positive impact on our ROI as we eliminated the need for an entire server, CALs & other licenses as well.
  • We are saving a lot of time on the management side of Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection as compared to others as it is cloud based and we are able to manage it from everywhere and not just one server. This has improved our performance and reduced expenses as well.
