Cisco Webex Events

WebEx is well suited for a no hassle way to do an online training or tutorial that requires users to learn about software or a website on the computer. WebEx is not really suited for a simple meeting that only requires voice (phone call). It is also not suited if participants need to share a mobile application from a mobile device.

RingCentral Meetings

If you need to meet with others on a daily basis via a virtual platform, RingCentral Meetings is a great tool that can help with that need. The tool allows you to easily send and invite people to join your meeting. If you find yourself not needing the tool as often, it might not be the right tool for you because of the higher cost.

Pros

Cisco Webex Events

  • For users that have never used WebEx, the interface is very user-friendly and easy to adopt.
  • WebEx allows for both facilitators and attendees to engage with one another via various methods (chat, questions, surveys, etc.).
  • The ability to record your session for those unable to attend is excellent. The videos that are captured are high quality.
  • WebEx integrates directly with a large number of learning management systems, which is great for tracking training items for attendees.

RingCentral Meetings

  • Screen sharing is wonderful in [RingCentral] Meetings. It makes presenting easy.
  • Being able to mute and turn off cameras when necessary is a nice feature too.
  • Switching from the computer to the cell phone when on the go is a nice benefit.

Cons

Cisco Webex Events

  • It would be nice if Cisco Webex Events allows us to playback the seminar on mobile devices.
  • And the booting time is high compared to Cisco Webex Meetings. Depending on the internet speed and other factors, it varies. Sometimes it takes 2minutes, which is frustrating.

RingCentral Meetings

  • The mobile app has a habit of logging you out without you knowing.
  • The invite feature should be clearer for first time users, we have had clients who needed extra support to get going for their first meeting.
  • Switching back and forth between the mobile and desktop apps is not very intuitive.

We are grandfathered into an unlimited toll-free minutes plan with RingCentral, so as long as we have them as a VoIP provider, we get Meetings free. If they ever start to charge us for using meetings as well, we'll drop that part in a second and switch to Skype for Business, which we currently have as well part of our Office 365 package.

The product is stable and provides great meeting experience during large events or corporate town halls. Users can join instantly from any device without any hassle and bustle. This is quite convenient currently since many employees are on the move or work form home.

We prefer Zoom over RingCentral. Some is personal opinion. Some is based on wider use and acceptance of Zoom. Zoom has great customer support. In general the support by RingCentral is poor. Zoom has way more features and our users and clients prefer Zoom. There are some quality issues with RingCentral Meetings that need to be addressed as well.

WebEx is available 24/7, as long as the user has a reliable internet connection and the WebEx servers are up (they are typically up when we need it).

Since it is cloud hosted, it stays in Cisco data centers, and they have been very reliable. That doesn't mean they don't have issues--all services do--but when they have, we had lots of communication and they were very proactive and made sure all of our issues were resolved.

I see their support across clients due to Carousel being a reseller. They have excellent resources and support their clients exceptionally well. Training is key and simplicity are two keys which RingCentral knocks out of the park. The quality is excellent and the reliability is superb.

Alternatives Considered

Cisco Webex Events

We have now started using Zoom as it is relatively cheaper and also people are now more used to it as for small group meetings, this is preferred tool in our company. License to host Cisco Webex Events is limited to only HR department or senior executives in our company, hence for more formal events this is preferred tool.

RingCentral Meetings

RingCentral Meetings has all the standard features one comes to expect from a virtual meeting software. The subscription prices are far for what you get and the service is reasonable. However I still feel the Cisco Webex interface is more streamlined and easier to use. I have never been a big fan of the RingCentral Meetings smartphone interface

Return on Investment

Cisco Webex Events

  • We are currently only using Webex Events for webinars with external clients or stakeholders, since it is too cost prohibitive to use it internally.
  • Webex Events is cost prohibitive even for use with only external users, given that there are similar tools with similar functionality at lower price points.
  • Webex Events has enabled us to reach users far and wide, but is not unique in its ability to do this.
Anonymous | TrustRadius Reviewer

RingCentral Meetings

  • The big benefit for us is that, because RingCentral Meetings is included as part of our RingCentral account, we don't have to pay another vendor on top of our existing fees to get support for a consistent, company-wide web conferencing system.
  • In some cases, we've found that our clients prefer using our Meetings platform to their own in-house systems, which are usually things like Skype, WebEx, etc.
  • On the flip side, RingCentral until recently hasn't had great support for room-to-room solutions, and so we ended up implementing LifeSize for that - so internally we still have to semi-competing platforms in play. Their room solution relies on 3rd party hardware and peripherals, and so is time consuming to get set up and working easily.
