Webex Meetings

Cisco is one of the best service and solutions providers out in the market currently. Their product, Cisco Webex Meetings, is a great tool that can help connect colleagues together who can't meet with one another physically. It also is a great tool for collaboration between various numbers of people. Another situation where Cisco Webex Meetings is well suited is if there is a training session needed; Cisco Webex Meetings is a great platform to host that.

GoToAssist Remote Support

Its a great tool if you support users remotely. The fact that it is easy to deploy (or have the end users connect) is a massive plus. If you provide software support to end users or are part of an IT team that helps users fix their problems this will save you a ton of time. It also works great in low bandwidth scenarios. So if your users are in remote locations with slow speed internet this will still get the job done. It is also really reliable. We faced almost no bugs or critical issues. I would imagine it would also perform really well as a server monitoring tool. Just deploy it and you can remotely connect to the server whenever you need to.Great tool if you need reliable, high performing remote connection

  • Integrate with most common tools like Microsoft Exchange, Office 365 and Google Calendar.
  • Lots of features.
  • Many features available to get the most out of the tool and make it easier to use.
  • Wide range of training on the tool and the new features.
  • Choose the version that most fits your organization: Cloud, Hybrid or On Premise.

GoToAssist Remote Support

  • Quick access to customer computers via email links or giving them the access code over the phone.
  • Notes area where I can record the details of the remote session.
  • Reporting - I can retrieve a monthly report of all my remote sessions (including notes) which helps me monitor usage, provides billing information and allows me to save a copy of the report locally.

Cons

Webex Meetings

  • Better integration with other platforms such as Panopto (currently only one video source can be saved instead of one explicit presenter and one explicit content window
  • Needs a bigger marketplace similar to Zoom
  • Virtual backgrounds needs improvement and should include motion backgrounds
  • Consolidate all the different products (Webex Meetings, Event, Training, Support centers) into one product
  • Allow fullscreen video of presenter video on secondary monitor

GoToAssist Remote Support

  • The administration web interface can be a bit cumbersome.
  • Would be nice if I had the option where I did not need to tie an account to a email address. It may work fine for companies of a tremendous size for ticketing purposes, but for my firm we just would like to use it and share 3 seats. It is not cost effective for my entire team to use a license as we will never all use it at the same time, but we could all benefit from using the product.
  • We could benefit from a scaled down version that only encompasses the remote support portion. We don't use other pieces of it like the mobile profiles portion, so if we could scale it back and get it at a cheaper cost that would be beneficial.

Cisco Webex Meetings is a platform that consistently performs well and outperforms some of the other solutions that we have used, such as Zoom. It is user friendly and helps our organization accomplish the goal of connecting with external contacts to conduct meetings and share information

The renewal decisions are mostly made from our IT department at work. I know they read a lot of articles and research products so I trust them to make the best decision. I have given my IT department positive feedback on the product and I hope they renew it in the future

Cisco Webex Meetings is a really easy-to-use solution. Cisco has a mentality linked to joining meetings: one button to push. There is always the same big green button that appears everywhere—on invitation emails, in the calendar, on videoconferencing devices, on the application in our phones and tablets. One button and the meeting is started. Anyone can start a meeting. The solution is therefore minimally demanding for IT teams, and even easy to set up and support for smaller environments where there simply isn't an IT team.

Has always been very reliable with only a couple of issues in the past year. Video and audio quality is always very good, however the platform does struggle with many people on video and audio (could also have something to do with computer bandwidth). We had over 50 people on a video call and found the platform to crash repeatedly, however for something like this I would recommend leveraging Webex events

Overall performance of loading the application is fast. On occasions, the meeting can take time to load in the browser version. The app usually loads faster both on desktop and mobile. Integration with MS Outlook is available. While I have not noticed [...] reduced performance within Cisco Webex Meetings because of this integration, I have seen delays in MS Outlook when adding the meeting link to calendars

If you are connected to someone with proper bandwidth, there are no issues at all. With all things, if you connect to someone with dial-up (yes, it still exists), the performance is terrible.

The response time is very fast via email. Most of the time, they also follow-up with a call but I usually need my questions answered via email.I think their support emails are bit bland and impersonal. They may think it's a good idea to list all applicable managers in their emails but that's not really all the important to me. In fact seeing so many people listed makes me wonder if I'd have to contact someone else to get my question answered or problem resolved.

The software runs well overall once installed. It is easy to use and very intuitive from both the technician standpoint and the customer standpoint. There are not a lot of problems or issues with the software, and it doesn't have a big effect on system resources once installed, or when running. It would not be a 10 since the cost of the licensing is one drawback

That we needed complex implementation that we didn't get tells me 2 things: 1) the product was not designed in a way that "just worked" like some of its peers (Zoom / BlueJeans) and 2) had our company defined actual user needs and validated / verified that they had bought something that matched those, we would have pursued features / designs more closely aligned with what the product actually does: screen share, sometimes video, definitely VOIP audio (always an option regardless of license), and easy recording and retrieval of meetings.

Alternatives Considered

Webex Meetings

I find Cisco Webex Meetings to be the easiest to use from the following standpoints:- Google Hangouts can have firewall issues for my customers; Cisco Webex Meetings doesn't- Our company finds it hard at times to take presenter rights in Teams, and we often need to present- Skype can be difficult to log into; Cisco Webex Meetings isn't- Some of my accounts weren't allowed by their internal IT teams to use Zoom when Zoom had security issues; Cisco Webex Meetings was always considered an acceptable option

All of the different remote support applications can do much of the same. We went with RescueAssist as it's still the only application we have been able to find that has the option to finish the setup of a Mac user account without disconnecting the session. As we still don't have a system for deploying software and have to do it manually, we value this feature. So, it's probably the most reliable software when you have to use it on multiple devices (Mac, Windows, etc.).

  • GoToAssist was a replacement for DMC, and while it didn't allow for profile changes, it allowed technicians to keep working with virtual support.
  • From what I understand, the per-seat licenses are quite expensive. Teams often dispute which accounts belong to which team.
