The tool [is] affordable. It is so much easy to use, having 24*7 fully customer support. You also get a lot of [features] to perform while [on a] conferencing call or through the chat box i.e video sharing, gesture, emoji, small files transfer etc.

I feel that SharePoint is applicable for companies of all sizes. If any company is already using Office 365/Microsoft 365, using SharePoint makes a lot of sense to extend collaboration options. Any situation that requires sharing files, SharePoint can help without needing to rely on VPN or some other direct connection back to on premise storage. It also allows very simple and easy website building to present information like for an HR department. The files can also connect very easily to OneDrive for File Explorer manipulation.

Pros

Webex (formerly Webex Teams)

  • Instant messaging/chat feature is easy to use for DM's and group "spaces."
  • Connecting my work phone line to my laptop using the application is a game changer!
  • Being able to also access any other employee in our organization is also great.

  • Permission management: This is super relevant and wonderful for controlling what your audience can see and do, for example, when you need someone to constantly see changes to a "living document" but not have the ability to intervene in the process.
  • Contact groups: I find it super good since not necessarily the site administrators are the only ones who can manage the group, you can make any member of the group can manage the rest of the members without this being involved in other site settings. Also when granting permissions, distributing documents, announcements, tasks, it is very easy to do it by group of contacts than one by one.
  • Version history: We know that we are exposed to errors and accidents, so having the previous versions of a document, being able to see who has modified and having the possibility of restoring any of those versions can save the day. I always feel that I am protected and that is why I always promote working in the cloud.
  • Integration with other MS tools: The workflows that connect outlook, sharepoint, onedrive, among others, where you can manage multiple actions for all these tools seems wonderful to me, it allows a super necessary and simple expansion to be able to automate tasks that used to be performed manually on a daily basis, it certainly contributes to efficiency.

Cons

Webex (formerly Webex Teams)

  • We think that the fact that the trial period for WebEx is so short is a huge drawback: while most collaborative services allow up to a full month to get used to the platform and decide whether to use it after the trial period is over, Cisco WebEx only offers a couple of weeks.
  • Occasionally there are severe problems synchronizing the platform's audio with video operations. This is usually due to the quality of our internet connection, but can occur arbitrarily if documents are being uploaded to the platform during the execution of a video call session. Eventually this problem fixes itself, but it is usually annoying if you are in a group session.
  • The performance of its integrations with Webex AIM pro is not adequate, especially because when playing audio from AIM pro there are usually problems with the quality of this, and sometimes when playing these audio files the WebEx platform can freeze or close. It seems that the cause of this may be the use of an incompatible audio format, which shows a limitation in the platform.

  • As this is a cloud based product, connectivity can be a challenge at times when there is network issues. However, Microsoft is really working on areas to improve the availability during such times with their inbuilt solutions / products.
  • Over the period, complex customizations in SharePoint requires effort and time and may need to involve dedicated developers for the same. However, with the introduction of Power platforms that support low code/ no code solution, even business users are able to automate / build their own solutions which is a great sign and Microsoft should bring more such flexibility for future as well.
  • As SharePoint is evolving in a greater pace over the years, this will become difficult for smaller business organizations on adopting those rapid changes as they might not have that much bandwidth to accommodate it. Of course, Microsoft is clearly providing a roadmap of the roll-outs well in advance, still I would feel like there should be a room for improvement around that corner especially for small scale organizations.

Now, we can't see any other option but Cisco Webex Teams and Cisco's collaboration products to keep our communications up to date and with enough tools and features to confront any posible situation, being a normal work year or a year like this 2020, wich has make us all prove ourselves what we're able to do in manners we haven't even think of before.

It's integral to our business. It's already included with most of the Office 365 licensing we buy, so the cost is effectively zero. It stores our files, it is the foundation for custom applications, and Microsoft only continues to enhance its functionality and its connections to other Microsoft tools. SharePoint just keeps getting better and better.

As with lots of technology being used in a work context now, there are parallels with applications that are used in our personal lives outside of work. Webex is no different in some respects - its UI is easy to navigate on a mobile device (as it is on a PC as well), and the chat/messaging element is really easy to navigate and use. The integration with the Calling and Meetings side of things is presented to you in an intuitive way as well, and once set up by the System Admins works great. The aim of One Button To Push to join a meeting is still present and allows you to easily join or initiate a meeting from within the client. The ability for a Teams space to be created that has multiple federated people/organisations as part of it is really fantastic and it just works. As I mentioned previously in this review, keeping your Teams spaces/messaging folder organised can quickly become a problem if you don't keep on top of things.

No usability issues reported. Individual teams also have allocated areas which replace legacy shared drives on local LANs. Access to Sharepoint resources is fully integrated with corporate Active Directory with additional two-factor authentication required for administrative users. Users have access to Microsoft Services Hub which allows you to create, manage, and track support requests while staying current on Microsoft technologies with access to select self-paced learning paths

I think Cisco has a better support now than in the past. When we place a support ticket, we get the answer quite quickly and the support engineers have a great experience with the product. So I think that it is a really great support. Of course there are some exceptions but in the most part we are satisfied.

Support for SharePoint is quite good. Microsoft provides good support. Microsoft offers
  • Quick turnaround time for issues
  • A range of support services
  • Access to a network of resources
  • Escalation of issues
  • Ongoing development and commitment to produce enhancement
The majority of support is required for initial installation. Once complete and the system is operating we have had very few support issues.

I like to learn at my own pace and online training allows for that. Additionally, you can skip through pieces of content that you already know or are already comfortable with. Microsoft actually offers great videos on their website for basic fundamental SharePoint Training. I have used these training videos in some of my own training sessions with end users.

Alternatives Considered

Webex (formerly Webex Teams)

Similar features between all of the various products. The interface on the other products seem much more intuitive and easier to use. New users prefer other products as they find the Webex (formerly Webex Teams) interface dated and difficult to navigate. Good security features in Webex make it the best offering for enterprise companies.

MS SharePoint

I have been burned by just one year of using MS, from performance/reliability issues to non-intuitive UI's that I can't name an aspect or functionality that I'd rate SharePoint as doing better than the Google Suite (and Google Sites, specifically). SharePoint needs a total rebuild to be a viable product, or maybe they'll launch their own, less awful product to replace it like they did with Microsoft Edge to replace Internet Explorer.

Return on Investment

Webex (formerly Webex Teams)

  • Dedicated support was added to answer Webex and other video conferencing tickets.
  • Remote classes became more feasible without requiring students to meet at specific locations. This has increased enrollment in hybrid and distance type classes.
  • Personnel now have a common conference software to hold meetings on that they have become familiar with. Individual departments are becoming less fractured.

  • Positive - can work on projects more quickly with fewer document versions floating around
  • Positive - less documents/large files being sent via email - changing the culture of our organization to work more efficiently
  • Positive - ease of access of content, especially during COVID-19 times, I haven't had any trouble accessing content on my computer or my phone.
