Classy
For our organization, Classy has been able to meet all of the needs we have. As a non-profit, Classy makes the process for our donors simple and seamless, something that is of the utmost importance. As Classy users, we're very happy with how easy the platform is to use and navigate.

I think the Whova app was such a great tool for a conference/ convention. It allowed me to reach out to attendees prior to the meeting and allowed me the opportunity to meet them if I wanted to set up a meeting. I am unsure of how long the information is able to be viewed but I hope for a while so I can access time to get people I haven't introduced myself to yet. Kept me up to date with events happening in throughout the day and evening times and allowed others to post in the community of meet-ups happening in and outside of the event! Such a great tool!

Pros
Classy
- The Classy platform is easy to use, both for the staff and our volunteer fundraisers
- It's easy to build a great looking fundraising page
- Classy support (particularly chat and phone) are attentive and responsive. Every one there is smart and nice!

Whova
- The app keeps everyone up-to-date with real-time notifications of how participants are viewing presentations, promotions and notices
- It enables exhibitors to view participants, including competitors, before going live in order to ensure equal opportunity and better understanding of how best to operate
- The meeting forums, such as integrated Zoom, were robust enough technology for those with cutting-edge gear as well as those less tech-savvy who might have older components as they worked for all types of hardware.
- The app seemed to capture the "Community" feeling one gets when attending a live show with personal messages, public and private message groups, introductory procedures and an all-inclusive design suitable for any user

Cons
Classy
- Campaigns lack customization options which can be limiting- while you can add code to make some changes, there is a basic framework that you can't always override.
- Slow to roll out some donor payment options like Venmo.
- Not inexpensive price point and on an annual contract, so the software is definitely an investment.

Whova
- Literature and pictures uploaded but no easy way to download the collection.
- No easy way to access information after the period after the conference ended.
- No easy way to access the list of participants and contact information - could be pdf'd.
- There was a little connectivity issues but not much.
- Some of the meetings were scheduled while we slept.
- The cost of using Whova for small meetings.

It was an enjoyable experience. I do not know if a small organization like ours would be able to use this all the time but national events it is awesome

VERY easy to use, but lacks flexibility. But very easy to learn and master, even for someone with technical skills. They offer live chat which is a great help for on-demand support. At higher call volumes, you may wait 10 minutes, but I’ve never waited for more than that and the support if 90% of the time very helpful.

Whova is quite user friendly, and helpful for the conference planner. It has features such as sample emails to attendees and import abilities if you have your sessions on a spreadsheet to avoid having to enter each session manually. Another thing we didn't like was the inability to allow attendees to enter a pre-recorded session only when it is scheduled to be presented. It's either all pre-recorded can be viewed once the conference opens, or none.

We had no performance issues with our event delivery. We did have some meet-ups that had some glitches for some attendees, but I believe they were quickly resolved and were more on the part of user error than anything. Once they got the hang of it, their meet-ups went more smoothly.

Classy's team was very helpful as we transitioned over, and helped us get everything set up quite easily. The few times we've had issues or questions, their online chat feature has been a quick way to get answers. On Giving Tuesday last year, the site went down, but Classy was quick with communication to its clients and had the problem resolved in about an hour. I know that if we have any problems or questions, the company and its team will be responsive and helpful. That makes a difference to me and our small team. We don't have time to troubleshoot or stay on hold for a long time waiting for support.

Rarely get answers to questions. Haven't had replies to multiple requests for customer support. Quite frustrating to have these problems, after paying 100% in advance. They don't seem to care about the customer (me) after getting my payments. Hoping that someone will respond to my requests for support sometime, but not holding my breath. They have these virtual "workshops" which are supposed to be a substitute for training. It's actually a sales presentation. You can't really interact with the presenter as they are more interested in the new prospects rather than existing customers.

In terms of my own usage, I appreciate the ability to download the application several days prior to the conference and plan for it in advance. There were some competitive features that allowed the users to gain points by posting images, questions, comments, and such which made the app very fun and interesting.

It was a huge mistake to switch away from Classy to FrontStream Panorama. Classy is much easier to use and much simpler to design. While FrontStream can be a bit more customized in its design it requires extensive knowledge of HTML or CSS coding, which is not ideal for a small nonprofit with a small staff. We were with FrontStream for almost a year and in that time period, they were unable to correctly link our Salesforce to their platform. For almost an entire year their team could not help us correctly push in data. Their customer service is awful. Additionally, we used their other platform, Bidding for Good, during our Gala and it did not work. We ended up getting a full refund. Pulling reports from Frontstream was complicated and archaic. Classy makes it easy for us to see our data and get what we need.

We believed that Whova had better functionality and add-ons from our early conversations at an acceptable price point. This is not the case. One consideration - polling and voting - is very limiting, you can type in multiple-choice polls 'live' ie mid-session, or put them in on a timed basis but this kills the fluidity or efficiency of doing so, taking staff away to manually type and send polls. It's rife with this type of thing.

- This has been nothing but positive. We use the basic version so there is no fee associated with it other than a percentage of each transaction. So everything that comes in is added revenue where the only investment is staff time, but there is no monetary investment.

- I didn't pay to use the technology; was a recipient as a result of attending a conference. HIGH ROI for me as a made a number of new contacts even though I spent the first full day listening to presentations. Having the app allowed me to do the networking I came to do without having to be seated next to the person I wanted to meet.
