Close.io is well suited for a sales organization who wants to track leads, make sure none slip through the cracks, move them into opportunities as discussions progress, and close new business. The simplicity of the platform is part of why it's powerful - it's full feature set can be easily understood and leveraged by even those without much training on the system. I'm not sure where Close.io would be less appropriate...

PandaDoc

I see the free version of PandaDoc primarily being used to digitally sign/approve documents. The software allows users to make use of existing templates to create their own documents in paid versions of the software, which is very convenient, as is the possibility to integrate the created documents into the company's CRM software and new or existing workflows.

  • Document Sharing: While this program will make sending effortless by allowing your entire team to create personalized templates that introduce the document, and then send directly through this software to multiple users and in a specific order if necessary, it also creates a document link that can be shared. This is particularly important because recipients might have firewalls to filter out these type of automated messages or they may end up in SPAM. By copying the link into an email directly from you, you improve the likelihood that it won't get lost in the shuffle.
  • Audit Trail: This feature shows who's done what with the document and how much time they spent doing it. This level of visibility on the client's behavior helps support follow-up sales conversations when a document is not immediately returned.
  • Templates: Allowing multiple users to independently create their own templates for future use and simultaneously giving them access to other templates means that you can have both a centralized and decentralized process for document cover pages. It saves times for everyone and allows you to support staff's preference for communicating with customers.

  • Minor bugs? - Sometime when I'm replying to an account it attempts to send the email as a different user. Thankfully I've only missed it when sending internal emails!

PandaDoc

  • When downloading the proposals as a PDF the format can at times be off especially if there are attachments. Not a huge issue, but could definitely be improved.
  • Easier and clearer areas within Pipedrive so we know where to fill in the info for basic details such as name so it will be picked up by PandaDoc. Sometimes it is picked up and other times it isn't.

The reason I gave it a rating of 7 is because it's probable, but not for sure. This is because there are a few little things we don't love about pandadoc. Mostly that there is not conditional logic such as: they must either fill this field out OR this one. Also it's a little pricey. But we'll probably stay because it's good enough and a pain to switch to something new

Close is a simpler platform to use when it comes to initiating email campaigns and managing leads. It has great visibility on opportunities and can be shared with specified users or can also be kept confidential. Close is not for someone who is very new to tools of its kind.

Once you get the hang of it, it's very easy to use. There can be a slightly steep learning curve to get fully in on the system.The new editor v2 has really improved usability and allows us to collaborate on documents simultaneously.Once the templates and library items are set up, a new document, whether it be a sales or HR document, takes very little time to complete.

As I mentioned earlier - performance is near perfect as I can create, send, adjust my documents. I love the tracking feature as well as I can tell when my documents have been seen and by whom. The only issue I have run into is with saving and formatting - occasionally the file document does not save with the newly assigned name or the content of the document does not stay formatted nicely.

I haven't really had the need to use their support, but the only time I had an issue with the platform, the Close team was very attentive and responded in a short span of time. Also they take minimal time to solve issues. The only con here is there is no way to reach out to them apart from email.

Recently I could not upload a pdf to a contract - support was very responsive and easy to work with. They got back to me the next day with an apparent fix - however when I opened the document nothing had changed. I then could not respond to the rep who was helping me because it was a "no-reply address", the problem still has not been solved and we had to make alternate arrangements to get this to the client. Never had it happen before and was only with this one contract.

Pipedrive was great for us for a long time. We used it for over 4 years. Our product and process was simple. When things got more complex, we needed something that could handle our growing needs and Pipedrive kept falling short. We built our own custom solution in Airtable and though it worked, we spend a lot of time managing it. Close was able to solve all our issues and save us hours per week in admin work.

PandaDoc

PandaDoc is a great alternative to DocuSign and has a handful of better features related to custom documents and blending logos and marketing efforts. I’ve had a few glitches and lag problems with PandaDoc that I’ve never experienced with DocuSign, however I like the look and feel of PandaDoc.
