Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE) is very well suited if you are interested in deploying cloud native applications on Oracle Cloud ( OCI ) and need container support. OKE does not work well when you have some memory and compute bottlenecks that may require configuring the underlying cloud infrastructure to work in a specific way with the Kubernetes engine through OKE since configuration is harder with OKE.

Reduction in cost as no scalability is required from an IT infrastructure side.
Pre-configured, engineered and simple in nature. This helps in reducing complexity on the IT side.
Less number of workers needed. Helps in effectively reducing man power and using comp.

Cons

While this platform has been around, it does take some getting used. The interface could be refined. My Firefox Browser automatically closed when selecting some options and creating new objects as an example.
The tutorials are a bit outdated in comparison to the screens shown. We understand the system is constantly improving. The tutorials should reflect the changes in the interface.
There are many pre-trained models. However, it is not clear as to how those models were trained, what bias may exist in the training data, and how a user could improve those models unless we simply have to build our own.

Visual network designer would assistant in ensuring configuration matches intended design.
Automatic and seemless migration of VMs from OCI Classic to OCI would show that Oracle is taking cloud infrastructure service seriously.
Better, faster support. Traditional methods of filing SRs date back to the 1980s. Online realitime chat with support that know what they're doing is critical.
One click template image load from Oracle Cloud Marketplace is basic omission. It's available for oci-c but not oci.

IBM's professional service for migrating data and implementing new cloud environment was perfect. They started to help us before we begin to bring together all data such as how can it could be best to transfer all data without problems. During the migration they watched all the process closely to prevent any failure. Lastly, after the migration, they gave us trainings on implementation.

Alternatives Considered

I have evaluated Amazon S3 and Google's Cloud Platform.IBM Cloud Platform is well documented and very integrated with its other range of cloud services.It's quite difficult to differentiate between them all. IBM Cloud Storage is not a service I would have considered on its own merit, but with the power of Watson, which was an absolute pleasure to work with, alongside the cloud server options, I think the IBM cloud ecosystem provides something for everyone.

We have selected Oracle Cloud Infrastructure mainly because of the native support for Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, which is our preferred choice for data storage in the case of our newest products. Another important factor was the Ravello service allowing us to deploy our existing VMware data center workloads without any modification to the currently configured virtual machines and network.

Return on Investment

Prior to cloud storage, we used on-premises storage devices to store and backup, and sometimes it was a headache to scale up or down the storage according to our needs. With the introduction of Cloud Object Storage, we don't have to worry about scaling.
The uptime is also improved a lot after the introduction of Cloud Object Storage in our organization
Obviously, it's a very cost-effective way to store and archive data.

We have an internal chargeback for infrastructure and we anticipate the cost factor will be neutral.
We have been impressed with the provisioning aspect of OCI and expect it to save on data center staff.
The scalability of OCI has been a timesaver for our environments.
