I appreciate when I can take screenshots, and send them to coworkers. When I need to illustrate when something is not working properly, I can easily take a screenshot of the error message, and send it off to IT. This way they are able to resolve the issue much sooner. I will receive website leads, take a screenshot of the lead, and forward it on to the sales team

Guru

Guru is well suited for large teams with ever-evolving products and initiatives. If there are new hires trying to ramp Guru is a great resource for learning and sharing tribal knowledge from and with colleagues. Guru is very helpful for self-sourcing answers to questions and for continuous learning within an organization.

Pros

CloudApp

  • Capturing specific contents in video format instead of getting recorded the whole screen
  • Customizing the contents of any video or screenshots and annoting in terms of user's need
  • Editing the videos and screenshots which is helpful in terms of sharing contents in online presentations or meetings with client
  • Getting more customized settings while uploading or editing screenshots to look the content more readable

Guru

  • Easily accessible > you can use the extension in any browser you are in. This helps us as we live in Slack and Zendesk
  • Easy to read > The cards are easy for the agents to read through and click on videos
  • Easy to create cards > We can create a card from the extension, we do not have to log into the website to create a card.

Cons

CloudApp

  • Can get buggy or slow to load when you have a large library of media saved
  • The GIF/video capturing can bug sometimes when you are in full-screen mode, but I have a feeling that's connected with going over the limit of the freemium account 😅

Guru

  • Engagement with engineering teams is still an area for improvement, we are unable to get our engineering team to adopt the tool as a means for their own knowledge management product because it does not offer the same functionally such as hosting and revision control - like that of GitHub.
  • Using Guru to replace our current wiki (Confluence), we are in need of some other tools such as templates and better import functionality. Transferring existing content from Confluence to Guru was a very hands on and time consuming process.

In all honesty I don't even have time to look for an alternative to CloudApp at this point in our business. CloudApp works for what we had planned to use it for and unless a competing service that offers the same quality and ease-of-use along with video screen capture comes out I will renew indefinitely.

Usability

CloudApp

CloudApp 8.2

I would give cloud app a 10 out of 10 if the video screen capture portion of the tool worked flawlessly and the addition of few suggestions like full-page screen grab and the quicker ability to download screenshots or screen videos to my hard drive. I don't mean to repeat a feature request here being that features would heavily improve usability in my particular usage situation.

Support Rating

CloudApp

CloudApp 9.1
Based on 4 answers
I would give cloud app a 9/10 score on overall support mostly because I have had very little need of any support at all being that the tool was designed almost to use itself. In my opinion this level of forethought is equal to customer support. As of yet I've only had one real problem with cloud app which was the loss of a 20 minute video screen capture. Unfortunately I have not had the time to contact support about this loss. The only other minor issues that I confronted was within the initial set up which I was able to resolve via their website's support pages.

I never actually required contacting the Guru support team. That could be because creating new Guru cards or editing existing ones was very intuitive. One issue I did have was that when it came time to export all of the content in Guru it was very difficult and cumbersome so I would recommend making that an easier, cleaner process.

I was extremely satisfied with how quick and easy the implementation of Cloudapp was on my MacIntosh using MacOS Sierra was, along with how amazingly fast I was able to be up and going with the tool. most often with sass tools we are lucky if we can use 50% of the features without having to have consultations and a ton of back-and-forth email on how to use other features of the product. Cloud app has made it extremely user-friendly with almost no need for customer support. To My business, that equals time savings which as most business owners know, can be far more valuable than a few dollars saved.

CloudApp

I need to point out that I love Snagit. It's a fantastic product, but there are different use-cases. CloudApp for me is about quick and efficient sharing. Snagit doesn't really allow for that. Yes, they have a cloud sharing option, but for the entirety of me using the program, it hasn't worked right. You'll have to try both to see what I mean.

Honestly, Google Drive does not stack up against GURU, but it is what we were previously using to organize internal knowledge. If your organization is at 50+ people, you need an actual tool to help organize internal knowledge. Everyone will be thankful that its not just a google document somewhere in Google Drive

Return on Investment

CloudApp

  • Speed. It's incredibly quick and easy to share images, gifs, and videos. That saves us time and makes us more productive.
  • Storage. Everything is kept in one place, so it's easy to go back and reference/keep track of. It keeps us from hunting down previous shares.
  • Annotation. It's very quick to mark things up before sending! Again, the primary benefit here is speed.
  • Cash. We'll occasionally share videos with prospects so they better understand our offerings. Some of those people become customers!

  • Our ticket resolution times went from over 8 hours to just over 2 hours.
  • We no longer have a continuous conversation between support and developers allowing developers to focus on developing.
  • Having the same information across teams has proven helpful too.
