Likelihood to Recommend It's well suited if:
The organization has large number of applications that needs to be deployed frequently. The organization is tied to the DevOps mindset. The organization has programs in different languages. The applications does not need EJB's support that servers like web logic provide. It's less suited if:
The applications needs security configuration within the same CloudFoundry instance. The organization, for whatever reason does not want developers to manage the instances. Read full review If you are using some application of Zoho and want some more functionality into it, Use Zoho creator to develop a separate app as per requirement and integrate it with your Zoho App. Small organization can use creator to make apps but it can be used for small range of storage, For Large organization , it may be not feasible.
Read full review Pros Support for Orgs and Spaces that allow for managing users and deployables within a large organization. Easy deployment, deploying code is as simple as executing single line from CLI, thanks to build-packs. Solid and rich CLI, that allows for various operations on the instance. Isolated Virtual Machines called Droplets, that provide clean run time environment for the code. This used to be a problem with Weblogic and other application servers, where multiple applications are run on the same cluster and they share resources. SSH capability for the droplet (isolated VM's are called droplets), that allows for real time viewing of the App code while the application is running. Support for multiple languages, thanks to build-packs. Support for horizontal scaling, scaling an instance horizontally is a breeze. Support for configuring environment variable using the service bindings. Supports memory and disk space limit allocation for individual applications. Supports API's as well as workers (processes without endpoints) Supports blue-green deployment with minimal down time Read full review Accountability for each employee work which is very vital for any organization Making operations very simple even that a simple lay man would be able to perform detailed work like a pro Data tracking in live was made possible Using proper Manpower for the work they are apt. Read full review Cons Does not support stateful containers and that would be a nice to have. Supports showing logs, but does not persist the logs anywhere. This makes relying on Cloud Foundry's logs very unreliable. The logs have to be persisted using other third party tools like Elk and Kibana. Read full review In C6, the new setup of permissions is not logical. Admins now have access to every application rather than specific applications, which impacts data confidentiality. In C6, the new feature for having multiple environments is very limited as it does not work for ZOHO Creator applications that are linked to other Zoho Creator applications in the same workspace - which is not logical at all. In C6, the revised permissions for Developers do not allow the developer to assign permissions to users or to publish forms, reports, pages, etc....which again is not logical. The use of Zoho Creator contributes to endorse the Zoho One subscription year after year.
Read full review Usability Its quite easy if one has the need, interest and passion to build applications and solutions through low-code. One example would be, that my finance head who has absolutely nothing to do with tech and apps, is now able to create apps and manage Zoho Creator all by himself. So its all about the interest and how much time we put to learn the tool. Having said that, its quite easy to learn the tool and create anything that's within our scope of knowledge.
Read full review Reliability and Availability In an earlier comment, I mentioned Zoho's excellent uptime. I have been using the system for over 6 years, and have experienced only momentary outages, and of those, only a hand full over the years. It is extremely reliable
Read full review Performance We do not integrate Zoho with other systems at this time, but rarely are searches, database exports, record edits or creation tasks ever slow enough to notice. It is quite usable
Read full review Support Rating I recommend Zoho Creator very often. A lot of companies go big earlier than they need to and spend way too much on SalesForce & Marketo. I worked for a small company with some limited budget that pivoted to sell it's product to the Enterprise. Zoho Creator was incredibly easy to set up, intuitive to use, and contains all the most essential features that most users need and seek in SalesForce. We integrated with MailChimp & Unbounce and were able to be incredibly useful in acquiring leads, nurturing them, and tracking pipeline in Zoho Creator. Our small sales team found it very easy to use and loved it.
Read full review Implementation Rating Even if it is a easy to use platform, it got some issues on the implementation that could easily handle by IT teams. In our scenario this team don't exist anymore, and the business/marketing team had their expectations that it was quickier to be implemented. So, consider a professional help on this implementation could be cost more (of cource) but it would be helpful to manage the issues and expectations.
Read full review Alternatives Considered While Docker shines in providing support for volumes and stateful instances, Cloud foundry shines in providing support for deploying stateless services.
Heroku shines in integrating with Git and using commits to git as hooks to trigger deployments right from the command line. But it does not provide on-premise solution that Cloud foundry provides.
Read full review I could use Excel to do what I need but prefer to use Zoho Creator for the main reasons of being very secure, fast, easily accessible, cloud based, etc. The CSV import option is a huge time saver, I can import CSV or TXT files directly into Zoho Creator in seconds
Read full review Scalability Zoho is incredibly versatile. Much thought was put in to the way the platform functions. I've yet to face a situation where Zoho would not be able to do what I needed. That being said, because of its power, it can also be a bit intimidating technically. Simple needs are simple. More complex needs are ... more complex! Overall, it's a powerful, robust platform
Read full review Return on Investment Positive impact, since it simplifies the deployment time by a huge margin. Without cloud foundry, deploying a code needs coordination with infrastructure teams, while with cloud foundry, its a simple one line command. This reduces the deployment time from at least few hours to few minutes. Faster deployments promote faster dev cycle iterations. Code maintenance such as upgrading a Node or Java version is as simple as updating the build-pack. Without cloud foundry, using web logic, the specific version only supports a specific version of Java. So updating the version involves upgrading the version of web logic that needs to involve few teams. So without cloud foundry, it takes at least few days, with cloud foundry, its a matter of few mins. Overall, happier Developers and thats harder to quantify. Read full review With using Zoho Creator we are able to build apps that we may otherwise pay a pretty penny for. We may risk some features we could get from a 3rd party app but the fact that the data we do collect can easily syn with our CRM and Accounting systems makes up for this. Negatively speaking, it takes time to fine tune and really craft your application. I am not a coder, nor do I have a coding background, so patience is key as you design and build out your application. Read full review ScreenShots
