Cloudingo

Cloudingo is a Salesforce deduping and cleaning tool. I highly recommend that someone in your company who works with Salesforce data also work within Cloudingo. Cloudingo, also allows you to import leads and contacts into Salesforce in the same document, which is a huge time saver. It is not a segmentation or "missing" data finding tool, like some of their competitors

Informatica Data Quality

We used Informatica Data Quality to measure the "Data Quality Score" of internal and external reports at my company. Business users set up data profiling and prepared detailed analysis documents for business analysts. and developers developed Data Quality Mapplets for other IT teams to import their Informatica Power Center repositories. Results are stored in a centralized data quality space and then reported and summarized to related business users in detailed ways.At the end of each project, we are now able to place a "Data Quality Score" watermark score on each report involved.

Pros

Cloudingo

  • The automation engine is extremely powerful. I have over 500 fields on some objects and I want to do different things with that data depending on what the master record is. I was able to configure Cloudingo do all this. i.e. set it and forget it and I just get an emailed report.
  • Visualization of the problem areas is completely unique. Cloudingo has a dashboard concept with tiles and those tiles represent ways of looking at the data and potential duplicate records.
  • Innovate - every suggestion I've given them they have implemented and then some. Cloudingo really pushes the pace and I am always thankful when new releases come out because they put in cool stuff that I would have never thought of.

  • The matching algorithms in IDQ are very powerful if you understand the different types that they offer (e.g., Hamming Distance, Jaro, Bigram, etc..). We had to play around with it to see which best suit our own needs of identifying and eliminating duplicate customers. Setting up the whole process (e.g., creating the KeyGenerator Transformation, setting up the matching threshold, etc..) can be somewhat time consuming and a challenge if you don't first standardize your data.
  • The integration with PowerCenter is great if you have both. You can either import your mappings directly to PowerCenter or to an XML file. The only downside is that some of the transformations are unique to IDQ, so you are not really able to edit them once in PowerCenter.
  • The standardizer transformation was key in helping us standardize our customer data (e.g., names, addresses, etc..). It was helpful due to having create a reference table containing the standardized value and the associated unstandardized values. What was great was that if you used Informatica Analyst, a business analyst could login and correct any of the values.

Cons

Cloudingo

  • I wish there were a few more merge operators. You can set merge rules based on "equals", "oldest date", etc., but there is no "contains" operator.
  • Hard to use. The platform is just very complex. Not sure how you'd get around this though since this type of mass action is very involved.
  • The price difference between the standard package and the pro package is a very big jump. But it has to be since the pro uses a REST API.

Informatica Data Quality

  • Several partnerships diminishing the value of technologies
  • Unable to get list of objects from Repository (like sources & targets) that don't have any dependency
  • Scheduling: The built-in scheduling tool has many constraints such as handling Unix/VB scripts etc. Most enterprises use third party tools for this.

We spend enough money on Salesforce that the cost of Cloudingo when compared with its benefits is extremely small. We've been able to see measurable KPIs move as a result of the work we've done with Cloudingo

As pointed out earlier, due all the robust features IDQ has, our use f the product is successful and stable. IDQ is being used in multiple sources (from CRM application and in batch mode). As this is an iterative process, we are looking to improve our system efficiency using IDQ.

UI/UX blows everyone else out of the water. It is super easy to use and intuitive. I've got two paralegals that jumped right in and were able to figure it out within minutes. This was good in that I felt confident Cloudingo would prevent them from doing dangerous things (which it does) and it also gave them the confidence to start digging into our data and finding other areas that we could improve upon

I have had to reach out to Cloudingo support several times. They almost always respond that same day. Often times they will call me directly to fix the problem or walk me through best practices. They even reach out after the fact to make sure that everything worked okay. They are also kind and personable.

For us it was just a matter of committing the 10 minutes to install it from the AppExchange. It automatically builds out a dashboard based on standard filters and you get a lot of insight from them. We then copied some of the standard ones and pulled two from a filter library that rounded out what we needed. I wish I had done this months before given how little of my time it actually took.

Alternatives Considered

Cloudingo

We considered DemandTools CRMFusion. As a small company with a limited budget, it was considerably more expensive than Cloudingo. It also was an installable, on-premise piece of software which is a big drawback. While the reviews of CRMFusion on TrustRadius were very positive, it appeared to have a steeper learning curve as well. So the combination of cloud-based, easier-to-use, and lower price led us to select Cloudingo over CRMFusion.

IDQ is used by a department at my organisation to ensure and enhance the data quality.
The usage was started with address standardization and now it had been brought to altogether a next level of quality check where it fixes duplicates, junk characters, standardize the names, streets, product descriptions.
In the past we had issues mainly with duplicate customers and products and this were affecting the sales projection and estimates.

  • Neglected and not used due to destructive automation
  • Fear of cleaning up data
  • Not wanting a human to do proper cleansing
