Contactually is a very powerful CRM, even though it is extremely simple to use. It is very intuitive and fun to use! Their templates for nurturing and follow-up are phenomenal, so if you have a sales cycle, this is the tool for you. I even use it to keep track of family and acquaintances' interactions, as Contactually can alert me when it's been 30 days since the last time I talked to person A. The only reason I don't give it a 10 is because price has been going up in recent years.

DemandTools

DemandTools is a great resource for everything from mass upserting records, matching a spreadsheet of records to existing records, and de-duplication of records (including any custom object). I tend to use the Data Loader when I'm executing simple mass inserts or exports instead of DemandTools.

  • Good data consolidation picked up from a variety of sources.
  • Once added, the contact profiles are updated regularly with how the contacts' LinkedIn profile would change.

Cons

  • Pipeline functions. It's pretty bare minimum right now.
  • Capturing text and phone calls outside the app. It's hard to remember to initiate both from the app.
  • Calendar function. You should be able to edit the calendar in Contactually and it would sync with your Google calendar.

  • I wish the Find ID reports didn't list the results in columns, but in rows below the match, or if it was at least an option. Like if it listed Match1 and Match1a, Match1b, Match1c. Sort of how the dedupe file has Masters and NonMasters.

Just doesn't provide the sophistication that I seek. It's a simple solution with some innovation automation relatively speaking, but ideal for individuals and small businesses with basic CRM needs.

It's a great product. The only thing that holds us back is it was frustrating working with their sales team. We also don't like that when Validity purchased DemandTools they immediately started charging us quite a bit while it had been free for non-profit users when CRMFusion owned it. They also don't let you buy it for just 1 or 2 seats, you have to pay, I believe, in batches of 100 seats.

DemandTools

I have also used the free Salesforce tools (Workbench and Apex Data Loader). The only thing those tools provide (that I use) over DemandTools is querying (Workbench) and exporting (Apex Data Loader) of deleted records. DemandTools is a superior tool in terms of features and usability for uploading new or manipulating existing data. (It obviously also includes dupe management tools that Workbench and ADL don't, but I don't use those features personally).
