Its middle of the road and should suit most applications well

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection proved to be near ideal for a secondary solution. Running it in conjunction with a traditional antivirus solution provides the best endpoint protection in my experience. Also, even though the reports are a bit lacking in detail, they still make a good starting point when investigating incidents.

Pros

ControlNow (Discontinued)

  • An instant scan of file level downloads so that introduction of a variant file is limited before the scan engine clears it.
  • Dashboard use of the agents available allows for near real-time review and action without directed access to the station.

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection

  • The biggest plus with this software is that you can manage all the clients from a management console. You can push the install/updates through it. If the client cannot connect to the management console, then it will update directly from their website. This means you are always up to date and protected.
  • The software on the client machine has very low overhead so it doesn't affect the performance.
  • You can create policies based on the types of users or by the department. You can customize these policies so it will let you micro-manage the clients.

Cons

ControlNow (Discontinued)

  • Dashboard refresh when you have over 100 end agents can be lagging at times
  • The agent install process has potential to hang without alert or warning unless your paying attention through the complete install
  • The silent install process can be problematic when dealing with large-scale networks with varied OS models

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection

  • Updates from one version to another can be challenging. Regular updates are a must.
  • We have not had any issues, but Malwarebytes has gotten some poor reviews on their support in industry publications.

The renewal decision is not up to me and also, the current economic situation might not allow renewal

The software is very easy to manage. In 4 years, we hardly have experienced any issues. It simply works.

Whenever I've had a query for the support team, they have got back to me very quickly, and given me very well detailed advice on fixing whatever the issue I had was. They also pointed me to help documents and such where I could find more information if I needed

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection

I stick with Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection because of the simplicity of deploying and managing the product and policies. Most importantly - because it works to defend our network and systems so well that we have had little to no need for intervening on any items. Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection uses minimal resources to run and actively scan all your traffic and inbound mail to ensure only good things are getting in and all the bad things are staying out. Most security stops there. But with Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection, it also makes sure that all your essential data stay in there and does not get out to malicious activity. Updating and pushing new policies or changes is the easiest of all the security software. Without needing to stage anything and having multiple methods of scanning your network to detect endpoints, Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection becomes the quickest and easiest security software to deploy in a network.

Return on Investment

ControlNow (Discontinued)

  • At current we are on build up and the ROI isnt a factor

Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection

  • We are more confident that this dedicated solution protects our systems better than other all-in-one solutions, reducing our ALE.
  • Updates to Microsoft Defender are making this less and less attractive to small businesses.
  • Updates to security suites like Symantec Endpoint Protection are making this less attractive.
