I think CSOD is great for most organizations it does have a hefty price tag so making sure the robustness is leveraged is important when choosing the correct system for your organization. I appreciate that they have quarterly releases so the product is getting updates often versus some other LMSs when that is less frequent.

You must have an IT staff with knowledge of PHP in order to install and maintain the system. This is not a plug and play solution by any means. If you have that staff, this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's a very robust system. Once we solved initial bugs caused by our own errors during installation, the support desk requests have dropped to almost zero, with nearly 2,000 users online every day. That's a good, solid program.

  • The user group community is unlike any other. It is easy to connect with other clients and the CSOD team is actively engaged, always interested in what clients want and need.
  • Vast content catalog from a wide variety of providers. Content delivery service makes my job easier. I don't have to deal with course files and metadata!
  • Ease of use for non-admin admins! I was not a LMS administrator prior to implementation so I learned as I went which was fully supported by the robust training available to system admins.

  • Reduce the number of clicks: for competencies bank management, it is necessary to save twice at least before submitting any modification.
  • Allow sorting by different means (names, ID etc), by default competencies are listed by alphabetical order which for our particular field is not the most convenient.

  • The tool could use a simpler layout and become slightly more user friendly. Possibly have better guidelines as to where to find particular items or illustrate the flow of what needs to be completed first and so forth. Overall just a simpler layout would go a long way, seems a little clustered at the moment.

As long as pricing stays reasonable, we will likely stay with Cornerstone for at least one more contract renewal. It would be a large task to migrate all of our content to a new system. However, the LMS landscape is diversifying with new startups that are showing some real innovation.

Once you make the plunge and choose a platform, there is really no point in backing out. We could theoretically export all of our courses out of eFront and import them into a new system, but we like some of the strong points about eFront, particularly around security and ease of modification (for PHP programmers, anyway). I see no reason to switch - all of the Professors and Admins are comfortable with the system, and it is taking us light years ahead of the curve in terms of training.

The system is huge so, even after using it as an administrator for a few years, I still find there are lots of pieces and things I do not know. Some of the more everyday tasks have cumbersome user interfaces that you become accustomed to but would be greatly helped by a redesign. The availability of assistance articles and the new knowledge bank help greatly with usability as you have a quick place you can go to for help with figuring out how to do various tasks.

For most situations, it is extremely easy to learn and use. There are ergonomic issues that seem a bit tedious, but overall, we are seeing a very high success rate with new registrants. They are learning the material and earning their certificates at a rapid pace. This is a good program once it is properly installed by a knowledgeable systems architect.

Pages do not load quickly. Often times any action or selection of a box, drop down, check, pretty much ANY Javascript interaction causes the whole entire page to load/reload/start doing something in the background. This makes a nightmare for having to mass edit courses or upload ILT sessions. It's the one of the archaic web designs they use that really bugs me as an admin and makes working in the portal at times intolerable and insufferable

I included this information in my overall review, but I thought ADP was THE vendor to highlight for their bad customer service. [I feel] Cornerstone OnDemand goes above and beyond (or should I say down and below) anything ADP had set up for customer support: Only certain people can call / email directly if there are issues, so you must play "telephone" a bit to get your issue defined clearly; you can sign up for a weekly "office hours" session, but you must queue up and then listen to other customers as they try to resolve their issues; you can submit recommendations, but you NEVER hear back or your recommendation is just dismissed.

Two disadvantages: 1. Many staffers who respond don't know how to solve the problem using the User Interface - they want to work from the back end, to which I have no access.2. The support staff are in Europe and I am in California, so there is an overnight delay in getting a response.

I'm not the most technical person, so some of the training didn't make sense to me. It wasn't a complete training - it was more topical. The people working at EFront were happy to answer my questions later when I resorted to learning it by doing. This was very valuable to me.

Dig deep on what your current processes are and how they match up to Cornerstone OnDemand functionality. It's not that the Cornerstone OnDemand is bad, it just the amount of work it requires you to do to get your current data to fit into their system.

It's important to have a robust course catalog before launching. Courses should be QC'ed to be sure there are no errors or other problems. Don't let engineers write quiz questions! Remember that well-formed quiz questions are not designed to trick or fool the user - they are used to reinforce learning through repetition of important concepts. The "grade" isn't as important as the assurance the information has stuck.

Cornerstone OnDemand exceeds the features of these other LMS systems by offering more modules and features. CSOD is a one-stop shop LMS for talent management. The robust reporting and customizable options also make this a step above the other Learning Management Systems out there.

  • Our initial goal was to track course compliance. We have met and exceeded that goal. The system provides an easy way for administrators, managers, and learners to track their assignments and course status.
