SAP Litmos

SAP Litmos is well suited for remote users and trainees to be able to attend training, access materials, and reflect back on what they have learned from anywhere and on any device. Our users sign themselves up and then receive an email from within SAP Litmos that gives them more detail and instruction on the courses that are assigned to them for completion. When you have hundreds of users that require annual and refresher training to match funding requirements this gives you all that you need to get the training done, track the training, and provide reports for feedback and requirements.

  • Enables employees to draft work goals and collaborate with their supervisors on a final version - improves mutual understanding right up front.
  • Combines performance goal ratings with competency ratings and provides a blended score. Simplifies the goal weighting so you don't have to do any calculations.
  • 9-box matrix provides useful definitions and descriptions so managers can prepare development notes or plans for individual employees.

  • Would be good to have have a virtual "top level" (eg board) user built in to allow senior execs without a direct manager to be able to be set up with KPIs instead of having to create a dummy user
  • Reports have difficulty downloading if pop ups disabled or in some browser environments
  • When competencies are updated while a cycle is open, any changes don't effect that open cycle but only future ones. Would be nice to be able to have the option to apply changes to existing "open" cycles

  • Reporting usually takes me a few tries to get the reports I need, but I almost always get there after a couple of tries.
  • Providing easy access to video launches. The unique log-in token only works once, and the second time it says, "Link has expired" which leads to us regularly getting emails about why the link is expired.

It's not that CSB isn't a decent performance management system, but we have decided to go with just one vendor (Workday) for an HRIS/performance management/payroll system so we can directly relate pay to performance. We are more interested in having just one system that "talks" to the other pieces instead of having to work with several vendors. It reduces the hassle of having to communicate with different support teams, having different contracts, and so on.

For what we need in the very near future, Litmos does not offer us the required capability. Ideally, we are looking for an integrated LMS, coaching, mobile support and content creation platform. Litmos may have the LMS part covered but there are other platforms that do this better along with providing an integrated all-in-one service or at the very least support API integration with other vendors to meet our requirements.

There are specific things within the goals and competencies that are user-friendly. For example, the rating slider isn't great in my opinion. You can slide in between ratings which can create some odd scoring (if you use scoring). It seems a better solution would be a drop down where you select your rating.There are also some glitches in the system and have been told Cornerstone is aware of them but are focused on delivering new features. There are workarounds, but that doesn't seem to be a great answer.

SAP Litmos is convenient to use. It can be easily linked with existing systems with out-of-the-box connectors or APIs. Automated email invitations are available for new users. It also provides a free trial demo for the new users so that they can operate it without any problem.

We rarely have issues with down time. Obviously, the user's browser, etc. can come into play. But, overall, this is what I would call stable software. And, it has the advantage of being accessed over the internet so learners can access from home if they want.

The saving process slows it down. It doesn’t auto save. If you leave a page, it will sometimes warn you, but not always. When you hit the save button, a window pops up that says creating/saving packets. It feels very archaic.

They still have a way to go with their reporting. But, they have been working on this and they continue to improve.
Aside from reporting, I would say that SAP Litmos performs very well. I rarely have any issues at all - even given the things I normally have open on my computer!

My assistant could better address this issue. My perception is that there is not immediate assistance, and that there can be a wait for help. That is not a negative, just a perception. I have not used support in two years.

The knowledgebase is very generic, so beyond some basic, "this is how you use Litmos", I am not super impressed with the self-service options for troubleshooting issues or finding best practices from peers. Getting a response from specialists also takes a great deal of effort. The initial ticket is almost never where my answer comes from, so I have to wait on the escalation to take place, and usually that goes to an account specialist. Once I get that, there is usually a back and forth before we agree on what the issue is. Service is always courteous, but not efficient. I am never sure where my ticket stands with regard to escalation/processing, so I have to inquire. Service tickets and service are not a clean process right now, at least not for me. Nothing like it was during our implementation.

I think we could have done a better job of rolling out the tool to our managers. We were under a tight timeline. In the training, we showed them everything and said go do it by this date. Looking back, I would have done it in pieces: for example, 2 weeks to write goals, 2 weeks to get sign-off from direct reports. I just let them go at it. Since then we’ve moved to agile development environment and are applying the technique to everything. In future would only do through change sprint. It is a big change I didn’t take it seriously enough.

I had a team of 3 project managing. You need a champion from every department to make sure you’re getting it right and to make sure what’s happening is communicated. It’s not something you can do without input from department heads

Lesson.ly has been great to work with but it is a very clear and simple, user-friendly system that anyone can pick up with very little training as it is self-explanatory. It also has a great mobile interface and lots of different features that are easy to add for the admin but really impactful for the user.

Having reviewed our situation regularly in regards to ensuring our learners have learning tech at the bleeding edge, which goes for both an off-the-shelf LMS/LXP product and building a bespoke LMS system, SAP Litmos continues to be the best choice for our business model. Off-the-shelf LMS systems all do the same functions pretty well in regards to hosting content, but the continued development of both the integrations & features make SAP stand out, alongside their easy to navigate platform - it also stands out as having an easy to administer from a back-office POV allowing a number of stakeholders to assist in the marking and ongoing development of content.

  • increased training compliance rates- tripled our training compliance rates received positive feedback on learner experience and content of training modules
  • Simplified Reporting- Allowed automated reporting of training numbers to internal managers of their staff . Also allowed the training team to monitor utilization rates and login activity for both internal and external learners
  • Customized Content- Allowed our organization to add customized content including training attestations and personalized certificates when learners completed training.
