If you have an in-house expert, then this product, due to its customization abilities, is a great choice for a CRM. However, due to Creatio's low-code approach, there are areas where end-users can make their own changes and customizations without the need for a developer. One such case is building out team dashboards for real-time reporting.

Nintex Process Platform

Nintex has good default templates for approval workflows. But it's also well suited for more complex workflows where more logic is needed in the workflow. It can not be used for hybrid setups where a company has an on premise SharePoint environment and an Office 365 SharePoint online tenant. There is no way to setup workflow between these type of hybrid setups.

  • Branching logic in forms - This allows for a single form to cover related processes depending on choices made in the form.
  • Seamless integration with Office 365, allowing us to drive actions in the workflow based on item changes in SharePoint Online
  • The fact that it uses a separate service to offload the processing power instead of having to provide it as part of our organization.

Nintex Process Platform

  • Updating Nintex to fix bugs in a production environment can be challenging at times and requires thorough testing in a QA environment first as it doesn't always go smooth.
  • Separating Nintex content databases and moving site collections with large workflows can be a daunting task.
  • Nintex workflow timer jobs can use a lot of server resources at times and application server load balancing should be implemented instead of running on a single server.

Unfortunately, we will not be using Nintex going forward because the experience in on-prem Nintex and SharePoint 2016 is not replicable in Office 365 / SharePoint online. Also, the licensing model is different and would not be cost-effective to scale in the new environment with a lower-functioning version of Nintex (Nintex online is not as robust and user-friendly as the on-prem version). Our parent company assesses capability, licensing models, cost, and security to weigh in on whether a tool can exist in our portfolio. While on-prem Nintex was a great solution for our business when connected to SharePoint 2016, the online version that connects to SharePoint online is feature-weak, in development, and does not march capability forward for us in a meaningful way. The parent operating company has opted to go with Microsoft Flow instead.

Nintex Workflow does exactly what it is advertised to do: make workflow development fast and easy. It doesn't provide very much new functionality, but it isn't really supposed to.When I am working with a client on a SharePoint project, I am always happy if I hear that they use Nintex Workflow, as it makes workflows much easier.

This product works well as you scale business processes but there is a point where things become too complex. Administratively it scales fine, number of users is no problem, and since Nintex relies on the build in SharePoint workflow manager, it falls under the same scalability perimeters. Business Process complexity is the limiter for scalability within Nintex.

  • Users are seeing the value of a consolidated information source and buy-in is quicker than it was with Salesforce or GoldMine.

  • Nintex offers process automation that simplifies business solutions. Learning how to use all of the actions is not as time consuming as other WorkFlows I have configured before.
  • The learning curve on creating, maintaining and troubleshooting Nintex WorkFlows heightens productivity. Plus, I can appreciate the online courses offered on their Nintex community site along with live support assistance if and when the occasion rises.
  • I have noticed less WorkFlow bottlenecks; This improves efficiency, controls expenditure of time, money, resources and drives process improvements.
