If you have an in-house expert, then this product, due to its customization abilities, is a great choice for a CRM. However, due to Creatio's low-code approach, there are areas where end-users can make their own changes and customizations without the need for a developer. One such case is building out team dashboards for real-time reporting.

Nintex Process Platform

For on-premise SharePoint I think Nintex Process Platform is unparalleled in its capabilities. It's intuitive enough for end-users that it does not seem overly cumbersome or complex while at the same time allowing a deep-breath of capabilities if you know how to configure them. I've used them specifically for a variety of scenarios that would be harder to implement using SharePoint's integrated workflow platform. These include:
  • Providing customer facing forms that use the trusted-connection between Nintex Live and our Environment to collect and process data.
  • Easily iterating over batches of documents or list items and processing them.
  • Complex approval workflow processes for both list items and documents.
  • Complex divergent pathing and parallel processing within workflows.
  • Calling to other enterprise services such as DocuSign within automation process flows.
Once you cross into Cloud services and Office 365, the benefit of Nintex Process Platform above the competition (Microsoft) begins to diminish. There is a lot of functionality within Power Automate and Azure that is easier and more integrated because they live natively on the Microsoft Stack. I have found it ends up becoming a matter of preference instead of necessity in which you end up going with. Although Nintex Forms have remained a strong favorite of mine compared to other products regardless of platform since it is easier to work.

  • Hide/display rules on forms rather cumbersome
  • Need to be able to add comments to workflows
  • Printing of workflows: the resulting format is not usable at all
  • Responsive forms - not sufficient density - too much white space
  • Need ON DELETE trigger!
  • Need a better way of implementing smarts within the form (e.g. update fields if a particular value is chosen in another field) than javascript and the JS editing/debugging process is horrible

Chances are that we move to SharePoint Online and then we're going to also consider the microsoft power platform (power automate and power apps) to develop forms and workflows.Aspecially the pricing model for the cloud is currently a blocking factor to go for the Nintex solution in the Cloud.

Based on the on-prem experience with this tool, I believe that they have a lot of potential to help the online version catch up to where the on-prem left off. Nintex developed their online version and it is not as fully formed or capable compared to the on-prem version, and the licensing model scales back what we would have liked to be an expansion or at least continuous improvement of existing flows. It is also not near as user friendly specifically to non-developers and has an uncanny similarity to Microsoft Flow in the online instance. Consistent with my reviews of the tool - I believe they have some good approaches to design thinking that, if translated well from on-prem to online, could make this a clear winner again.

The Nintex Process Platform has never crashed or had any availability issues during my usage. However there was an issue that was of my own making that caused a slowdown of the system. I had set up a process to run once a day and check for employees on a list that had certain parameters selected, and for some reason that I had to troubleshoot, the process instead ran constantly, which filled the cache quickly. I ended up having to dismantle that process so the system didn't crash.

DocuSign doesnt allow us multiple output methods for content and also updating the content is a bit more challenging it seems. Nintex has been easier, better priced and makes it a more compelling app platform with its setting up with salesforce. Logic and approval also is a great addition which docgen provides.

Administratively it scales fine, number of users is no problem, and since Nintex relies on the build in SharePoint workflow manager, it falls under the same scalability perimeters. Business Process complexity is the limiter for scalability within Nintex.

  • With our diverse organization, being able to establish consistency is key and we can do this by creating a standardized form, process, and workflow with automation. So the process is easier and all of our people are doing it the same way. That is a game changer.
  • The licensing is a little hard to follow and can make the product unaffordable.
  • The approach of Nintex hosting the solution makes Nintex design their product for maximum usage. They have to make sure they can have their product embedded in a number of different systems; so, they use industry standard protocols and development.
