CrowdCompass

CrowdCompass was the best part of Cvent each time I used it, from the ease of use to the customer service and handholding. I would recommend it for anyone using Cvent Event Management for an in-person event. I know Cvent just rolled out their virtual event hub though, so for virtual and hybrid events that are employing the Cvent family of tools, I would probably say CrowdCompass is unnecessary.

GiveSmart

I find GS to be extremely helpful for our large event, managing over 200 guests and their purchases and donations. We have not used it for smaller events, because it hasn’t seemed worth it due to the fact that our people like to register by mail and directly through the website. I have not found a quick and seamless way to correlate that information, so I have not made that leap. We do hope to utilize the platform this year for the first time to do online peer-to-peer fundraising. I know it is something they do, but we have not used it yet.

  • Last year, the gamification did not allow much customization, which was a shame. I hope that by the time I am ready to build my 2020 app, this function has been expanded
  • The app to upload/edit push notifications was only available on iPhone so I had to have another team member handle that seems I have an android phone.
  • Emails (invites, etc.) often go to junk.

  • I can't always reach someone immediately for service and have had to leave a message and wait for a callback
  • My personal account rep often takes several days to respond to emails
  • The display page has limited design options in format, font, text size, color, etc.
  • An attendee cannot order themselves if they want to pay by check. An organization should be able to decide if they want to take the risk instead of only allowing the administrator to purchase by check. If our users could choose a check option and we could verify receipt of the check, this would be much better for us.

For us, we have a very dissatisfying donor database solution right now, but we have built the hacks we need in order to manually integrate data we pull out of GiveSmart with the system. None of us are trying to reinvent that particular wheel, so for now, until the organization decides to upgrade the useless database we've been saddled with, we are satisfied to maintain our GiveSmart subscription. Might this change if we acquire a more sophisticated donor solution? Maybe. But we will also be looking for options that will integrate smoothly with GiveSmart. What we like about GiveSmart, we really like.GiveSmart is great at what it does really well, namely event management. Yes, they need to address the inflexibility issues that make customization and some report features particularly frustrating, but for our organization the benefits are outweighing the drawbacks at this time. Their customer service is top-notch, and they have done an admirable job of creating an extensive Help section and responsive Support department that can assist with how-to's for various tasks within the system

It is very easy to use as everything is very intuitive. Configurating an app does not take too much time at the end, especially as soon as you already have done one as you can dupplicate the entire content. This is very practical when you use the app for annual events.Also few elements are not updatable once the app is published. Of course you can't change the entire design and the security settings which is a good thing anyway, but the entire content can be updated which allows you to publish your app quite early in advance to boost the engagement without having to wait to have everything in your hands (for instance the speakers bios or abstracts). Plus by adding more content regularly it encourage your audience to come back also regularly to check what is going on before the event.

As mentioned before, easy to use, great training videos, and excellent customer service. The app was very user-friendly as well. Most people had nothing but positive feedback on the end-user side of the platform. Clear instructions on how to bid for items were clearly explained as well. Even if you had to cancel a bid it was quick and efficient.

We haven't had any issue regarding performance or reliability with GiveSmart. We don't integrate it with any other software so that issue isn't relevant. The pages load quickly and reports are completed almost as soon as you hit the "run" button. Overall, the system works as designed and is pretty quick when people use it.

Once we paid for our apps, I felt like I was left to learn on my own. There are plenty of Help articles available, but no training sessions. I'm a visual learner and having to poke around and use trial and error to build the apps took way too much valuable time away from other parts of my job. It was frustrating and I brought it up with my CrowdCompass contact, but was told that they don't provide any training sessions and if I had questions I should refer to the Help articles or call support.

GiveSmart provides great training videos on their system. Not everything is covered with their videos but their support staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I would have given them a ten but not everything is covered in their videos and sometimes you have to find the right word to search for in able to find the right training video.

Don't wait to register with Apple and Google. You can do a lot of prep work prior to setting up CrowdCompass for integration.

We just made the change using the band-aid approach. In other words, we just went for it and taught the users how to do it at our first event and went from there. 90-95% of people haven't used a mobile bidding software so most everyone was on the same stage of knowledge so implementing it was easy as people didn't have to re-learn anything.

Easier to use interface that directly links with our Cvent registration system. We switched due to this integration, the gamification improvements, the benefits for on-site check-in and session selections, and ease of design/use for our builder team. We have especially enjoyed the New Attendee experience over the look/interface of our previous apps

GiveSmart

We were looking into using OneCause, then realized that GiveSmart is very comparable and we were already using the platform. Current participants would then would not need to set up a new user profile for our upcoming events. We had not been taking advantage of the full potential of GiveSmart, and with our largest event of the year coming up in the Fall as in-person, we will be exploring all that GiveSmart has to offer.

For what GiveSmart is designed to do, the software works excellently. We haven't found something GiveSmart cannot do when it is used as designed. However, when GiveSmart is tried to be used as a total CRM, it doesn't do that but that is okay as it wasn't designed to be a total CRM but rather a mobile bidding software.

  • Positive - CrowdCompass has allowed us to eliminate paper programs thus saving thousands of dollars in printing and labor
  • Positive - the ability to send push notifications when there is a change to the schedule is something a paper program could never do
  • Positive - adoption rates have been so high we are looking into using the program for more and more events

GiveSmart

  • Switching to a virtual auction instead of an in-person event increased our fundraising efforts. We were able to receive bids on items from people throughout the country - not just those at a physical event.
  • Our fundraising revenue increased. Donations increased as people were able to donate with credit card via the event website.
  • As more staff members at our school have learned about the GiveSmart event creation, it has helped improve internal efficiency. We are able to work remotely or in the school building on the same projects via the GiveSmart platform.
