CyberAlert

This is a great tool for larger size companies that will have a lot of media tracking they need to do. It appeals to stakeholders involved in PR, data analytics, and helps decision makers know what will have the most impact and where their marketing dollars should go!

Newswire

Newswire is absolutely well suited for press releases and Earned Media Campaigns. They do great research for your media pitching and curate very relevant information and messaging. I have yet to encounter any scenarios where Newswire was not well suited for what they are tasked with under contract. As we transition into a "Lead Generation" engagement, perhaps it will reveal other things not yet visible.

Pros

CyberAlert

  • Gave us a concise report daily of our media clips (media tracking)
  • Gave us analytical information about how much reach those clips had (how much influence they had)
  • Helped us evaluate better ways to get and use earned and paid media

Newswire

  • Newswire makes navigating the distribution of a press release easy by walking you through each step and giving you the option to choose and enter associated details like regions and categories.
  • Newswire provides a prompt review of press releases and has always worked to meet our distribution time even when we've submitted close to a deadline.
  • Newswire has a helpful support team that answered all of my questions when we were setting up our account and preparing to send our first press release. It was great to be able to talk to humans who walked us through what we needed to know.
  • Newswire provides value-add options that we don't currently use, but plan to as we grow.

Cons

CyberAlert

  • Personally I didn't see any. Though I know my boss had a few calls with their team to get the daily reports formatted and presented just the way she wanted them. The team took a few tries to get into the swing of what she was asking for, but they were more than willing to put in the time and effort to customize the reports for her.

  • Prices could be lower.
  • Would be nice to have an option to get our releases SEO'd.
  • Would be nice to have an option to check for optimizing open rates.

I've only used Newswire once. It didn't work out that well. Low distribution rate. Might try it again in the future

If we are just talking about usability, I feel comfortable giving a higher rating because I didn't have to reach out for help or anything when using their UI. If I can figure it out without having to look up any help articles or reach out to someone that is what I prefer since I have limited time.

Alternatives Considered

CyberAlert

I think it's a bit more developed and professional looking. It's best for bigger companies.

Newswire

Newswire, although a large firm, still operates with a small business delivery model. They personalize their services, their teams, and their products. You don't just feel like another customer, you truly feel like a partner and they do well positioning themselves as a rightful trusted advisor to the business. We needed a firm with wings, but with fewer talons. We got that with Newswire.

Return on Investment

CyberAlert

  • I wasn't at the top of these discussions but, I did help make monthly reports that went directly to the CFO and CEO that used these analytics to show how our corporate communications office was doing and all the work we had done for the past month. This is a way to cover yourself and show that we had done a lot of work and good work at that.

Newswire

  • Newswire releases seem to correlate directly to increased website traffic
  • My attorneys and product managers have remarked that they receive more inquiries after releases on Newswire.
  • I am constantly citing Newswire as a leading source for increasing our brand footprint.
