Since the product is especially preferred in the IT department, users have too many prejudices about the product. For this reason, they show a lot of resistance regarding the product. Therefore, detailed documentation on password change, connection to IT applications, virtual machines and network devices, and training to IT staff is essential. The product should definitely be in the financial sector in terms of information security. The data security policies of the institutions go a long way with this product. Here, rather than the size of the institution, the criticality of the data it contains determines whether or not to buy this product.

Oracle Identity Management

Oracle Identity Management is a great product, especially when working with multiple directories. It is best suited in a company that has multiple business divisions catering to different objectives. And not all companies would be able to utilize all of its features, especially if the users base is too small or the business model is restricted into one area.

Pros

CyberArk Workforce Identity

  • Implementation of the Centrify solution for federation with Azure/Office 365 takes about 15 minutes versus the several hours it can take to stand up other solutions.
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM) has granular controls for administrators yet is very easy for our users.
  • I have been in the IT field for over 20 years, and the technical support at Centrify is by far the best I have ever encountered.
  • Granular Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) works perfectly and is easy to set up and maintain.
  • If you ever have to re-federate with Azure/Office 365, it only takes a few minutes, which is amazingly fast in comparison to other solutions we have tried in the past.
  • Establishing SAML assertions is well documented and easily accomplished. If you do run into any issues, Centrify technical support will assist you.
  • Centrify is excellent about proactively sending communications regarding problems and maintenance releases.
  • The Centrify Identity Service solution is constantly being updated and improved to not only bring new features/innovations, but also to make sure that everything is kept safe against the latest security threats.
  • As a customer, I truly get the impression that my business is important to Centrify and they try to be a good business partner.
  • Centrify listens to suggestions regarding the product development. This is true for suggestions regarding the admin/user interface as well as requests for new features.

Cons

CyberArk Workforce Identity

  • Occasionally, I get logged out of Gmail, sometimes in the middle of an email. I'm not sure why it happens, but I think it has something to do with timing out. Which is strange because I'm on email all day. Not sure why.

  • The entitlements catalog was not robust enough for our needs. We ended up keeping an internal system to catalog our entitlements. This meant more integration code was necessary than we'd like.
  • We evaluated the access request functionality, but again, it was not flexible enough and had a bunch of strange quirks (unnecessary button presses, etc).
  • OIA was pretty slow and users would complain about it repeatedly. We tried working with Oracle to improve the performance, but didn't get anywhere after months of troubleshooting.

The support staff thus far has been very helpful. At times I feel they are driving the process forward without my intervention or constant reminder, which is nice to have in a company for a change. Most support seems to be a hassle but so far Centrify appears to treat your project as their own project.

Centrify offered us more for our money by being more than just an SSO platform. There were several other features included such as MDM and MFA. This started other initiatives for us and felt the other solutions we evaluated would not have been able to provide.

I believe we had a quite fair RFP listing all our complex integration and being key on utilizing existing investments, the Oracle product met our requirements and the local partner presented that very well. With such combined synergy, the offering was appealing to be the winning bid and therefore Oracle Identity Management was selected.
