dbForge SQL Complete vs Redgate SQL Compare

If you're not in a database management app every day, dbForge SQL Complete might be overkill for you. I know some of my team members are just as happy with Azure Data Studio and a few extensions. I walk through a lot of production support issues, so being able to clearly tell which environment I'm working in, at a glance (QA, dev, staging, prod backup, etc), is a huge help for me. I also pick through generated SQL from an ORM, and dbForge SQL Complete makes it easy to comb through that.

We use SQL Compare to troubleshoot performance problems quite a bit since our data model is more like a template and not everything is 100% in sync and customization occurs between different client databases. We continually get pulled into performance issues and the developers will say Client A is performing different than Client B, why? Using SQL Compare, we usually find that one client was tuned and had indexes altered or added that weren't deployed to all clients or other objects weren't deployed correctly during the release.On the other hand, since our data model practices allow client databases to drift I tried to create a new golden image by trying to compare multiple databases based on the same data model and found it to be a very difficult process to complete using SQL Compare. SQL Compare gave me too much information and doesn't allow enough filtering to eliminate a lot of the noise.

Pros

Intellisense - it's not just what columns are on what tables, but foreign key navigation as well, which makes writing JOIN statements a breeze.
Formatting - I think most developers doing any kind of database querying like to see cleanly formatted statements, and dbForge SQL Complete formats well out of the box but also allows you to customize the formatting options to a really detailed degree.
Tab colors - this sounds like a small thing, but when I'm opening multiple database server connections, being able to tell at a glance which open tabs are for which connection is great. You can manage this to a degree in SSMS without dbForge SQL Complete, but it's a nice touch.

Extremely fast!
Compares from source control, not just physical databases. No need to keep copies of databases of varying versions laying around.
Command line tools integrate easily into automated build processes.
Even has plugins for products like Octopus Deploy!

Alternatives Considered

Redgate has some great tools for database work, but ultimately what fit best for my needs and use case scenarios was dbForge SQL Complete. I felt like I had to have multiple Redgate tools installed to achieve the same thing as having dbForge SQL Complete installed. They're not directly analog tools, so that makes sense, but for what I do, the better tool was SQL Complete.

Honestly, I have never been interested in the usable alternatives. I have always been good to use it. The license cost after all has always been sustainable. I never had the idea of \ u200b \ u200bchanging it nor the need to look at other software. Also (always a redgate software) I use the Data Compare which is the "twin brother" for data check.

It's reduced errors and bugs associated with deploying new application features and forgetting to apply required database changes (or incorrectly applying them).
It's made deploying new features a quicker task, eliminating the often laborious task of synchronizing schemas and data across databases.
These sometimes complex queries and operations can easily be performed by any developer and don't require the involvement of a database administrator to perform.
