MailChimp does lists. Drip does automated segmentation. This is a game changer!

Chose Intercom
Intercom and Drift have a lot of similarities- beautiful UI, engaging customer experience with bot functionality, but Intercom has been priced more reasonably, and has better integrations. Intercom support has also been fantastic to work with.

If you're looking to take your email program to the next level with automation, you definitely need to consider Drip. Their support team is always timely and helpful whenever we've needed guidance on the platform or using the API. They are constantly improving their tools. Intercom
It's well suited for a funded startup looking to provide excellent customer satisfaction to high-value users. Intercom has most of the features comparing other competitors in the market. Product integrations help in smooth data flow across the products. I don't think it's suited for early-stage startups where you have to pay $75 per month for a base product and add-on features at an additional price of around $100 per month.

Pros
Drip Global, Inc
  • Simplicity + power. Drip is one of the quickest platforms to use in terms of setting up simple drip email sequences. Yet it also packs enormous power if you need to do complex automation.
  • Drip's direct integrations with other systems mean you can easily create hyper-personalized communications and anybody can set this up.
  • Drip's Javascript embed is easy to setup and great for helping to build deeper insights into customer behavior as well as triggering automation.

Cons
Drip Global, Inc
  • Possibly more email design templates for "new" users to automation, HTML coding, integrations, webhooks, etc.
  • Any supported integration partners are always good to see. They have expanded in this area, recently.
  • Some sort of WYSIWYG, drag-and-drop email editor, wouldn't hurt.
  • Sometimes, when trying to implement advanced HTML coding to an email template, the code doesn't stick, save or format as "native HTML."

  • I sometimes get confused about how to best target relevant customers for a specific campaign
  • I wish I could preview a whole series flow to see how it looks before pushing it live
  • Building out series ins't always clear when something will send and when it won't

Intercom
I am giving Intercom a rating of 10 because we truly use this platform each day. When using the platform, we can have real-time conversations going on with parents, administrators, and even grandparents. They are able to discuss their general support needs and their billing support needs. Having this happen in real-time allows us to move forward with solving the customer issues

Customizability: Intercom is highly customizable, allowing users to tailor the interface to their specific needs and preferences. This can help to improve usability by ensuring that users have quick and easy access to the features and information they need most, this can be done by using Macros, generating custom events and etc.

Intercom
Intercom is the premier customer support/engagement model and it definitely has one of the top tier customer support teams as well. I don't think I have ever waited more than 5 minutes to get the information I need or get help with an issue. They are incredible and I aim to model our customer service department after them.

Alternatives Considered
Drip Global, Inc
Again, this is dependent on the use case. If you are a small- to medium-sized business that doesn't have a sales team, this is likely a great product for you. It is also a good price compared to larger enterprise software. Other software I have used worked better for other companies I worked for, but Drip fits best for my current company.

Intercom is much easier to use. Even though HubSpot's Support hub is a fairly new feature, it lacks so much. It is quite complicated to use and lacks many features that Intercom can offer just for the focus of customer service.
