Flock

Flock might be useful in community work or in college communications. It can also be used in start-ups where the cost would be a factor. Flock needs to up its game if it really wants to compete with giants like Slack. For large companies, Flock should be not be used as there are better alternatives to it in the market.

Huddle

If you must simultaneously edit documents on a project, Huddle is not a good option. Also, if your team is not technically savvy, the learning curve can be challenging. Finally, if you need hundreds or thousands of people working on a project, Huddle might not be the right choice. I think it is better for teams under 100 people.

Pros

Flock

  • Real-time communication is perfect.
  • The mobile apps really let us take everything on the go.
  • It integrates perfectly with our calendar.

Huddle

  • Usability is excellent.
  • Makes it easy to track who has worked on what.
  • Makes older versions of your files available.
  • Sharing documents is super simple.

Cons

Flock

  • Flock's video and audio quality is sometimes poor as a result of poor internet connectivity
  • It has a messaging limit of 10,000 messages which makes it hard for us to keep messages for future reference
Benard Wambua | TrustRadius Reviewer

Huddle

  • The desktop app is occasionally unreliable and it is never easy to get to the bottom of it with the tech support people...
  • Tasks are virtually useless as they have no context. We want tasks to be against documents so we can make our workflow more formal but they are not, so we don't use them. A reimplementation of to do and calendar facilities with files/documents as the context would make a huge difference to us.
  • The Huddle Office plugins are a great idea, but they cause us far too many Word and Excel crashes so we have to turn them off.

We've only needed customer support a few times with Flock (mainly concerning app integration and security), and they've always been timely and helpful, which are the only things I truly need from support. The response rate was still rapid, and there's plenty of support available online as well for Flock.

Alternatives Considered

Flock

I did not like Google Hangouts. Hangouts is more geared toward personal communication instead of business related communication. Flock is also a lot easier to use and has more options related to a business setting.

Huddle

Huddle is quite different from Tibbr. They serve different purposes for the most part. However, they both allow colleagues to improve their communication with one another, minimize email inbox clutter, and improve processes. We use both of these in our organization. Huddle has allowed us to store documents, share communication and generally work in the cloud.

Return on Investment

Flock

  • It did provide a creative space for conversation and this does equal a great return on investment, considering the investment is free for the base use.
  • For the team members who enjoyed using it, it helped them save time in their day by having a repository for notes and creative ideas.
Tim Mack | TrustRadius Reviewer

Huddle

  • This has made it a lot easier for remote workers to access important documents without needing to use the VPN at home (which does not always work).
  • It clearly shows who updated the last document and when so it is clear who you need to ask if you have questions or something.
  • We have used it in client settings, so this saves money as we do not need to request a separate client laptop or VPN token.
