Pros

It is a very complete solution that addresses a wide range of different security issues and it does it well.
Forcepoint's Technical Support is on the ball. They have improved greatly over the last 3 years.
The level of professionalism from Forcepoint really completes the picture.

Cons

Remote filtering is not as advanced as we would like.
Support time is not as quick as needed in most cases.
Upgrades of appliances and software is not as easy as other solutions.
HTTPS inspection needs to hand a valid cert and doesnt work correctly with all vendors.

Backup to Dropbox and other cloud services would be great.
Online backup to 3rd party cloud services that do not affect band-width on the user end.

We have been fairly happy with the product and how it has worked. We have looked at other vendors for url filter and such and have not found one that meets our needs or does what we have been doing with Websense. The product has been fairly stable and we have only had a few issues in the past. We have all seen that it was one of the highest leaders from the Gartner Group Magic Quadrant for Web Gateways.

Because we've brought our problem of inexplicable web traffic disruption and they effectively ceased working with our troubleshooting team even though we'd eliminated other avenues as the potential source of the problem. Once they stopped helping us look for a problem, their product became less appealing as the long-term solution. They may claim to want to be "my" (or "your") partner, but partners need to stick it out beyond the "traffic looks good from my perspective" attitude. They need to help us figure out what we're doing differently that could negatively impact business.

Alternatives Considered

We have tried out Office 365 and Trend Micro DLP but those solutions have not worked out as we hoped. That said, when we looked at Forcepoint Data Loss Prevention, there were only minor issues we came across that did not have any negative impact and overall, the solution was what we needed.

From my research, SysTools was chosen mainly due to its simplicity. Other software tends to add a lot of eye candy, which for me was not necessary. I needed something that I could configure and leave running in the background relatively unnoticed. SysTools provided that with little interruption to my daily activities.

Return on Investment

The exchange of financial documents with customers creates extreme risk as data loss could result in financial and reputation damage to the customer. The cost of deploying Forcepoint is fractions of pennies compared to the potential financial impact of data loss.
There is some administrative overhead associated as false positives are inevitable, requiring a manual review and a potential loss of productivity.

Reduces time of sharing files and working on them collaboratively, in fairly large groups. We stopped using email attachments.
Reduce recovery time from a faulty or retired PC.
Reduce time of recovering old and large files we do not keep offline.
