We have been able to use Foundation Software in almost every construction accounting situation. You can tell it was designed for the intricacies of construction accounting. While we have not explored it lately, the project management module was not ideal. Foundation Software knows accounting and is strong in that field. I think they would be best suited to stay within the accounting realm and focus their resources on that arena.

Procore

Procore is very well suited in almost all aspects, it is very user-friendly and almost anyone could use it relatively easily without any training. I think Procore could integrate easier with more programs, and make it easier for Procore clients to set up, which could make Procore even more of a one-stop shop.

  • The release rate of new tools and information is difficult to keep up with. We could use a full-time Procore administrator who just trains and keeps up on the latest functions.
  • Making edits to contract documents - specifically change orders is very cumbersome when you use the change event tool.

We have invested a significant amount of time fleshing out our Procore database. If we did not renew, that time investment would be lost. We have not identified a viable solution to the challenges Procore solves. Procore is dedicated to continually supporting Procore. We have invested in Procore as it is today and also what it is likely to become in the future.

Foundation Software makes setup and data entry clean and straightforward. Even without prompts, a user would be able to navigate around the basic functions of the software. With a little training and the help manual they provide, a user can learn the system very easily. For those wanting to get deeper into things like queries and dashboards, they offer trainings and conferences that are helpful.

If you are working in an area with little to no signal, Procore will still allow you to get in the system and use it fully and will then update once you are at a place with a strong enough signal. Whether it be with wifi or LTE cell phone reception.

I have used Foundation Software support many times over the last ten years. I have never had an issue they were unable or unwilling to address. Even oddities are handled quickly and resolved efficiently. I have also had customization done and was very happy with the customer support they offered in developing a query and report that would met our unique need.

Procore has instant customer support via chat. If you particular issue cannot be resolved via the chat feature, they automatically notify customer support and you are notified through out the process that they are working on your issue. If your issue is very involved they will reach out to you via email and /or by telephone to walk through the issue and what is being done to resolve it. I've never had an issue just go to a black hole with no follow up.

Training can be at times hard to follow and a little boring, but this is your best bet to get the software on track and deployed into the field. Procore's web materials and videos can be helpful but the MOST helpful is when you are using the software and have the live chat support function at your disposal.

The hardest part about the implementation of Procore was getting all of our subcontractors uploaded into Procore and getting the correct contacts in for bidding. All of this information was with different people throughout our company, so getting it all into Procore and making sure it was correct was quite a challenge and caused the most growing pains for us. It was one of the reasons we had to wait to implement bidding because we couldn’t take the risk of sending out RFPs to people that weren’t correct or weren’t going to use Procore.

I did not have a hand in deciding the software, but for our company is has not
led to increased productivity or made things easier. It has been more difficult
for payroll to be inputted correctly and the payroll reports for certified
payroll often come out incorrect and we need to manually figure out how to correct
the issues and get them in correctly

When we looked into all possible construction management software, we thought we would find a 100% match for our company, but that's not the case. Every company has its way of doing construction, and there's no such thing as a perfect match, but Procore, with its wide range of tools, indeed comes close to perfect.

  • We've definitely become more efficient since using Procore. We were previously doing everything via Excel spreadsheets or Word documents. Now most of our operational processes are through Procore.
  • We save time in the field and in the office as there is now a flow of activities so everyone is on the same page.
  • We manage more projects (whether they are in construction or in bidding stage) more effectively because now we have one place to manage all aspects of it.
