GitHub Copilot is presented as an AI pair programmer, that plugs into the user's editor. It then turns natural language prompts into code, offers multi-line function suggestions, speeds up test generation, filters out common vulnerable coding patterns, and blocks suggestions matching public code.

GitHub Copilot excels in scenarios demanding rapid prototyping or proof-of-concepts, where speed is paramount. It shines when tackling boilerplate-heavy tasks, like setting up authentication or handling file I/O. It's less suited for highly sensitive or critical code, where human scrutiny and manual verification are essential. Additionally, in novel, cutting-edge technologies where well-documented patterns are scarce, Copilot's suggestions may be less reliable.
While Copilot isn’t perfect, I find it very beneficial for my work. For example, although I wish the email reply feature were more refined, it does help me get started. The seamless integration between Copilot and all my Microsoft 365 apps is a huge plus. Additionally, having Microsoft Copilot during Teams meetings has been a valuable asset. Overall, it significantly increases my productivity.
Copilot is excellent at formulating responses to emails that I receive from authors and customers.
Copilot is extremely useful while working on Excel. You don't need to remember formulas in Excel. Just write a prompt and tell Copilot what you want to do with the data, and it will give you the exact formula to use.
Copilot is also great at editing any content I need to review. All I have to do is copy paste the content in the prompt bar and ask copilot to check for grammatical errors in the content and gives an immediate response highlighting all the errors.
I appreciate most of what Copilot offers so far. However, I wish Copilot Studio provided more functionality. Currently, I find it easier to create a custom GPT in ChatGPT. When trying to generate the same automated process, ChatGPT feels more intuitive. That said, because ChatGPT doesn’t integrate with my Microsoft 365 apps, Copilot has an advantage. I believe it will continue to improve.
It is useful that copilot integrates so well with vscode, which is a very common IDE. I used Tabnine for a little while but it was not that intuitive, and did not seem as helpful as GitHub copilot was. I have enjoyed GitHub copilot a lot, especially the ease of hitting the tab key and seeing quick progress in my tasks.
Since we use Microsoft 365 apps in our day-to-day work, we didn't have to choose Copilot over any other AI. It just came with the subscription. However, I would still use it over ChatGPT because Copilot is integrated with all the major Microsoft apps that we use. We dont need to log into a separate AI over a browser. I also think our company data is far more secure while we use Copilot
