Google Analytics Premium
Well Suited: Not to sound like a broken record, but this is ideal (really ideal) for mid-size and larger firms/agencies/etc. whose revenue comes from managing/augmenting/creating many different websites that combine to command a large amount of traffic (meaning "well into the millions" in terms of monthly hits. If this is your industry, and you would describe your company as "big," then you are probably the kind of company GA 360 is made for.Less Appropriate: If you manage a single website (like I currently do), or if you're a small-ish agency/creative firm that manages websites with combined traffic under 10-million monthly (I believe that is the cut-off). The standard version of GA is still great, but there is no need to pay extra for 360 if you are on the smaller side.

I think Adobe Analytics is well suited for small or large businesses with the brain power to understand how the platform works and then use it to its full extent. It is a powerful platform that can become costly. I would not recommend AA to people who are beginners or have a limited budget for analytics.

Pros
- In my opinion, the best feature of 360/Premium is the access to Google consultants for insights into your analytics, conversions, etc. Being able to talk directly to the people who can help you "win" at Google is very valuable, especially if you are feeling things out. They help point you in the right direction and help you figure out what to focus on.
- Large scale analytics. Google Analytics 360 is extremely powerful, but you're really only using this if you are keeping tabs on many relatively high-traffic websites.
- Many different metrics, measurables, etc. (hundreds, maybe?) can give you an amazing amount of information about how people are finding your site and what they're looking at when they get there.
- Faster refresh rate than the standard version, which can be valuable if you have highly dynamic strategies that operate with a little more urgency.

Cons
- As far as I can tell, this is the ultimate large scale analytics platform. It does so much and can be a very powerful tool. Maybe it's overwhelming for newbies, but that's kinda what the pro Google consultations are for.
- Although I've never been personally responsible for paying the GA 360 bills, I know it's very pricey ($150K/year last I checked). If your business is managing a lot of high-traffic sites, and maybe you resell other Google services, then it's probably worth it for the dashboard and integration. So... it's expensive, and by definition, not for everyone.

- Adobe Analytics charges for conveniences that are stationary in other tools such as bitstream data.
- Adobe Analytics UI is not very friendly.
- Exporting data for multiple setups is cumbersome and can't be rolled up without additional addons.

Once GAP is implemented properly, it runs like a well oiled machine. There isn't a lot of maintenance of the tool and your reports keep piping in trusted data. If enhancements are made to the tracking code, there are ways defined by GAP to ensure data consistency and accuracy. Overall, this tool will help anyone get up and running with accurate analytics data for a fraction of the cost.

We've found multiple uses for Adobe Analytics in our organization. Each department analyzes the data they need and creates actionables based off of that data. For E-Commerce, we're constantly using data to analyze user engagement, website performance and evaluate ROI.

Google Analytics Premium has a very easy to use and intuitive User Interface. It's easy to find anything you are looking for and apply different segments to reports on the fly. This is very important especially if you are doing report comparisons. It's also an aesthetically pleasing design, making the general experience pleasant.

Adobe SiteCatalyst has a good up-time track record, but there are cases in which the interface reports a "Network Acceleration" issue, which can be frustrating. There are also times when data can be "latent" for customers, but most of these cases are due to spikes in traffic or temporary server issues.

For the most part, Adobe SiteCatalyst reports work ok, but there are cases in which reports take a long time to return. These cases are usually when too much data has been stored in Conversion Variables (eVars).

If you purchase Premium through a reseller like LunaMetrics, you are going to be taken care of. The additional amount of support and services that a reseller provides to make sure you have the best experience with the product is the reason why the reseller program exists to begin with. Support doesn't have to be just reactive, it can be proactive as well.

I give the rating of a 4 just because it seems more like a process that is failing. Any time I have put a request in, they have taken days, sometimes weeks, to get back to me and even then, the issue may still persist. I believe this is the biggest weakness of the Adobe Analytics tool and has a lot of room for improvement.

Myself and others have found the in-person training ok, but not outstanding. Trainers are good at explaining how to use the product features, but sometimes lack "real-world" experience on how to use the product as they are people who have often not previously been web analysts. There is also a shortcoming in company-provided training on advanced uses of the product. The implementation training is very good.

The online training for Adobe SiteCatalyst consists of short product videos. These are ok, but only go so far. For a while Adobe charged a fee for this, but recently made these available for free. There are many great blog posts that help users learn how to apply the product as well.

If you already have the basic version of GA installed, "getting" GA Premium happens immediately through a virtual flipping of the switch - no need to re-implement. You'll want to expand your use of custom dimensions and metrics (you get 10x the amount with Premium). Ideally, you'll be using a tag management solution to talk with GA Premium, in concert with implementing a dataLayer (to note, Google's Tag Manager platform is covered under the same GA Premium SLA, and it's free). There are some welcomed "configurations" with GA Premium, such as integrating with DoubleClick products, activating data driven attribution models, and building roll-up executive reports - but all of these are easy point and click solutions. In comparison with any other enterprise analytics solution, implementing GA and GA Premium is traditionally easier and more flexible. And if you have any trouble or need an extra set of hands for implementation, GA Certified Partners like LunaMetrics can help

I have found that initial SiteCatalyst implementations are too basic to be useful. Adobe professional services is usually tasked with the initial implementation using their "Fusion" methodology. This is good for vertical-based basics, but I find that many clients fail to go beyond this. This has the negative effect of selling SiteCatalyst short within the organization, since first impressions can be long-lasting.

Kissmetrics is a paid tool, while Google Analytics is free. Kissmetrics is a good complement to Google Analytics. Google focuses on tracking of pages, not people. In Google, you have to enter a "code" to track people (unlike Kissmetrics where this is possible without a code). If you want to reconstruct client history, you have to set up a funnel analysis. Kissmetrics provides this somehow automatically.

I have just recently started to evaluate GA and reserve judgement at this time to compare it against Adobe Analytics. That said, the usability and user experience of the GA platform is much more intuitive and user friendly. The ability to customize GA seems comparable to Adobe Analytics. I have not yet had gone through a support experience with GA.
