Google Pay

The main reason I use it is that I need not carry the credit card physically with me wherever I go. It is a very secure payment method. There is no additional cost. Those we receive the payment will not know our credit card details. The only worry will be someone might hack, and also this form of payment is not accepted everywhere we want to purchase something.

Stripe

Stripe handles essentially all of your payment infrastructure for you – with little additional logic needed by you, and over the past few years they've significantly built out their additional features for things like invoicing, emailed receipts, etc. Stripe's initial selling point for us was their powerful and well-documented APIs, which, when coupled with their great technical support, has kept us happy over the years.I'm less familiar with what it looks like to try to make use of Stripe without integrating with them via API; I get the impression that they similarly support manually entering and processing payments, however I can't speak to what that process is like or how it compares to the competition.

Pros

Google Pay

  • Contactless payment.
  • Seller or receiver cannot see credit card information.

Stripe

  • Stripe integrates perfectly with our cloud-based accounting software, making collecting payments easy.
  • The dashboard and UI are simple enough to log into and process card transactions via the phone.
  • The reporting features are nice and also integrate into a BI platform we use to provide us with in-depth and accurate reporting of all credit card transactions we do.
  • Their fees are reasonable and in line with their competitors.

Cons

Google Pay

  • Google Wallet had a few glitches I was unhappy with, but Google Pay seems to have corrected them. Who knows if the changes were related to the name change or if they just happened to coincide with the timing for the most part, but either way I really don't have any big complaints.

Stripe

  • Despite the API documentation and examples from third party sources, it can be hard to get setup. Given the number of commonly desired things to setup, it would be nice to have more pre-coded features to get started with less trial and error.

No need to carry credit cards physically wherever one goes. There is no additional cost to use this service which is another reason for gaining popularity.

  • We are delighted with Stripe. We don't think of any other platform that offers the same features or support as Stripe.
  • In the Fintech industry, it is crucial to have an excellent support team since it's about finance, and there can't be any delays anywhere.

Alternatives Considered

Google Pay

I like PayPal because I can use the money instantly with my debit card, something I don't see Google Wallet offering. I like Google Wallet because everything I do online somehow seamlessly work with Google and it would be great if I could use this exclusively

Stripe

They are very similar. PayPal charges you monthly to have the ability to set up monthly payments. I had a problem with PayPal earlier this year where it would let me set up a recurring payment but then would not let me charge my customer the following month. It's actually a pain in the ass to have to go into PayPal every month and bill your clients on the billing cycle day. Stripe does it automatically.

  • For the small fee I pay for processing services, it's nice to have so many flexible payment options for my clients.
  • The automation of deposits into my account makes it well worth a small fee. I plugged my information into my settings and haven't had to think twice.
