Hootsuite Enterprise

Hootsuite is great if you want to monitor one or more accounts. Specifically, if you are trying to build out a social calendar. Hootsuite makes it easy to develop a thorough content calendar while also promoting/posting things in real-time. If you want to boost interaction with consumers/followers, Hootsuite makes it easy to see mentions and interaction and then tweet back to other users.If you are unsure of your social goals, I would say Hootsuite might not be for you, as it pertains to more advanced levels of social media marketing.

  • Spredfast, as a company, shows a lot of promise in becoming a leader in the industry. They have a great company culture, provide great customer service and have a great product. In the time that we’ve become a customer, they have deployed several new and improved features, which demonstrates their ability to keep pace with the quickly evolving needs of their customer and the disruptive technologies that become available. We’ve already proven ROI simply by having a tool that results in efficiencies in our existing social media processes

Cons

  • Although at the Enterprise level there is an expedited support function, we have found the speed and quality of the responses to be spotty.
  • The Enterprise level is extremely pricey and clients routinely downgrade to the Pro version to save money.
  • Only ow.ly links are tracked, so if clients or staff forget or use another app or web version of a social network, no analytics are available. (There is a custom url shortning function, but it is outrageously expensive.)
  • We find that the integrated HootSuite Syndicator and the RSS Reader app are extremely slow and bog down everything, so we continue to subscribe to Feedly to monitor RSS feeds for individual client industries.
  • While pricing at the Pro level is published, the Enterprise pricing is not -- which continually makes us (and our clients) worry that as small firms we are overpaying relative to the Fortune 1000 and other 'big guys.'

  • I actually don’t think the tool does anything “poorly” but I do see opportunities for the tool to become integrated in more enterprise level systems, such as community platforms (Jive) and web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Omniture, NetInsights). There’s a lot of opportunity to break down siloes of information and processes by becoming integrated with any of these tools.

We have switched to SocialHub by Awareness.

User interface is the biggest difference. It's so much better in Social Hub.

Also, Social Hub allows more flexibility in reporting though not necessarily different analytics. You can slice and dice in more ways.

Social Hub has a CRM type feature which creates history of that person’s interactions.

Social Hub has an elaborate tagging system. You can associate tags with channel, individual pieces of content. When sending out pieces of content you could tag North America, mid-market, lead gen and then slice and dice by channel tag, content tag. You can get really granular, e.g. X click throughs via twitter on this campaign. This granularity is very helpful. Helps me have help the program marketers make argument for more spend.

Spredfast were more timely in support responsiveness but it took same time to get issue resolved. Spredfast is a little better on team collaboration i.e. assigning content to someone else to answer. Spredfast marks content as color coded as addressed. SocialHub doesn’t do this. This feature helps avoid duplicate efforts. I have requested feature upgrade from Social Hub

Would rate it a 10. We received two hours of online training and it was of very high-quality. HootSuite also offers HootSuite University which is an extremely comprehensive training portal with self-paced quizzes, training webinars and videos, best-practice papers, product certification, and access to a network of external experts. This is a fantastic resource.

it is important to note that my perspective is not necessarily common - I'm a geek/nerd/poweruser in general, so I found the online resources to be more than adequate (and often very aesthetically pleasing, too). That said, a less "geeky" person might struggle a bit.

One person of the organization must take the time to understand the product throughly. Next that person should work with the Hootsuite team to maximize the architecture of your platform and mitigate any problems that may crop up. Also, if a team members voices a concern or is having a problem roll your sleeves up and help them if not it can kill support for the product and end any chances of a renewal. Lastly, set aside enough time to allow for training and refresher training. Solve all problems ambiguity can not be permitted

From piloting all vendors to choosing the right one, we established a great approach. Spredfast ticked all the boxes the training was seamless and uncomplicated. The whole background set up completed by Spredfast using the requirements we had set in place at the beginning. The Spredfast team worked around the clock to make sure that every member of the team was fully trained and operational in time for Go Live, the management of all platforms across all countries was completed without a hiccup.

I would say that it is clear that Spredfast is dedicated to social media marketing, whereas with Social Studio it always felt like it was a bought add-on to an already large ecosystem within Salesforce. This means that from a user experience and a support focus, Spredfast has better overall functionality to it than Social Studio.
