HPE Systems Insight Manager (SIM) vs. ManageEngine Site24x7

This software is suited for a smaller organization with a small datacenter that uses mainly HP hardware. Once the environment gets larger it would pay to move to some of their paid for products

For very small-scale environments with minimal IT infrastructure, a comprehensive all-in-one monitoring solution like Site24x7 might be more than what is necessary

• HP Systems Insight Manager is very good at scanning for devices and adding them for monitoring is almost effortless.
• HP Systems Insight Manager is very good at detecting most HP hardware and integrating with local management software.

• Very clean website UI. Tests are well categorized and navigation is very simple.
• The accompanying mobile app is very useful when on the go as it can also notify you of any issues.
• The cost of the platform is very cheap and the cost also scales at a low amount.
• No on-premise footprint. All cloud-based.

For basic functions it's very easy to set up and use. However, for more advanced functions it takes a lot of time to figure out its quirks

The user-friendly interface and intuitive design of Site24x7 may be attractive to organizations looking for a monitoring tool that is easy to set up and navigate.

I have only had to use support once, so I can't go into much detail about their support team. The one time I did use it the response was fast but the resolution took some time.

Some of the other products I use for system management are HP SiteScope and SolarWinds Orion NPM and APM. SiteScope is another good HP product but it isn't very cost effective to use for general system management. It's good for performing complex alerting and monitoring. SolarWinds makes a great product but it is better geared for gathering statistics and performance data real-time and historically. Again the cost of this product makes it ineffective for general system monitoring.

Site24x7 [All-in-One Monitoring] has some similarities to ThousandEyes. Especially in the troubleshooting aspect where both offer Web performance waterfall charts to analyze the issue better. Both have cloud-based servers globally that allow to determine performance on the Internet. Site24x7 has more features available so we selected it instead.

• Since this software is free if you buy HP hardware the cost is nothing which is nice for cash strapped businesses.
• This software has a somewhat difficult time handling large environments where systems are not configured perfectly for this software.
• I would always recommend having multiples of this software installed for redundancy because generally unless it and the environment is properly configured it can require maintenance.

• Reduced downtime: We've reduced downtime because the alerts from Site24x7 get us working on a problem immediately.
• Less required manpower: We do not need additional staff overnight or an outside contractor to monitor the network since we get alerts ourselves.
• False alerts: We do occasionally get false alerts, which causes time spent after hours tracing a problem that does not exist.
