Ivanti Unified Endpoint Manager (formerly LANDesk Management Suite) supports enterprises with mobile security and device management (UEM), featuring remote control and problem resolution, monitoring and alerting, inventory discovery, license management, and more.
This product has helped me find lost mobile devices and has helped protect our corporate intellectual property as well as making it easier to support our 700 users in our Canada manufacturing facilities. We are better able to manage our fleet of devices and manage the apps that are being used on these devices as well as which apps are being used. We can easily wipe out a device if someone resigns and to better protect information. It makes it easier to deploy a completely configured mobile device to remote users and supports Apple, Android or BYOD. Once configured correctly this product integrates seamlessly with Apple to better manage off the shelf apps or custom applications. This product has made my life working with managing two different corporate entities and their divisions all across Canada with relative ease and leaves me more time to work on other issues. And reports are simple and customizable making it simple to see and understand and utilize the information to make better informed decisions.
There is no direct replacement for the on-prem Ivanti [Unified Endpoint Manager (formerly LANDESK Management Suite)] solution. Ivanti has a companion product called Neurons, but that is in additional cost, and requires configuration with your on-prem [Unified Endpoint Manager] instance to perform basic functions. If cloud-based is a requirement for your organization, this is likely a dealbreaker. You can implement [Unified Endpoint Manager] in a cloud instance such as AWS, but the support for this appears limited. If on-prem is not an issue for you, this is a great tool for device management. It has robust features, impressive inventory, massive customization options, and excellent vendor support. If Patch Management is a problem in your company right now, this is the first product I would evaluate.
Patch(Security) is done really well. You can use roll out projects or built-in automation as well as the use of groups and scopes to design pilot and other use cases.
It takes a solid inventory of what you have of your endpoints and can do an agentless scan as well if you need to collect data that way as well.
Provisioning is rather simple and even allows you to use other products' software for the image or the built-in if you wish to do so.
Software distribution works well and has a lot flexibility built into the module.
MaaS360 with Watson has a lot of features and capabilities, which can sometimes make it difficult for us to navigate. Improving the user interface and making it friendly could help make the platform easier to use.
Expanding integrations with other systems to provide better support for a wider range of systems and platforms.
Setup - Boy it is a pain to configure everything correctly. Be aware that you'll probably be giving an AD service account some God rights to get everything working....and security just loves that....
Cost - Boy you have to pay for everything. I suppose it lets you buy into just what you want but having repeated items go through procurement is a pain if your procurement branch is a pain.
Rock solid solution with highly accessible support when needed. We do not want to interact with MaaS360 on a daily basis but when an issue occurs we are always able to find resolution due to the various support resources we have access to
We are happy with the product but the support and development process is far superior to any other company we have worked with. Having a good support structure is very important in today's marketplace of products that do so many things and have so many robust options and capabilities. We are very satisfied with our contract, pricing, support and product execution.
Having years of experience with MDM and experiencing the evolution of the granularity of the functionality MDM's have had to evolve, no MDM is ever "easy" to use. MaaS360 rises to the top however, because zero day changes are always ahead of the competition. A huge benefit with MaaS360 and IBM's approach to supporting these changes is that they seldom change configuration work flows. Competing Vendors always arbitrarily change workflows which requires a significnat ongoing learning curve in order to maintain technical competence
Items are logically laid out and most are easy to find. The more advanced stuff can be trickier, but it is still not hard to find. There are a lot of options though, so remembering where some settings are, especially if you do not alter them often, can take a minute, but you will get to them fairly qiickly.
MaaS360's phone support has been decent the few times I have used it. In addition the person who on-boarded us has been available for additional questions after the process was over. However IBM could do a much better job in creating a user-friendly search engine and white-paper database to help people find topics. Right now finding info is more based on searching through white papers themselves.
TRM\TAM support has been generally very good. Getting reported bug fixes, design changes, UX problems resolved has been a pain. It is often difficult to get problems escalated beyond the TRM\TAM level. Support is fantastic when you can get it, getting it can often require more work than it should, and that is probably our biggest issue.

I really love how this software is full-featured comes with all kind of robust features allows us to lock down all aspects of our devices incase the device is lost of stolen. It also allows us to install apps remotely ability to track location set-up mobile data groups is awesome and allows diagnostic messaging when data limit is reached.
It's been many years since I did a full evaluation of other products but at the time we purchased it, the main competitors were Microsoft's SMS and Alteris. SMS just looked horribly ugly and complicated (which fit in very well with Microsoft's other server tools) and Alteris looked okay but had a piecemeal approach where even a basic deployment meant purchasing a half dozen or more components. LANDesk had one bundle for all the tools we were looking for and had a great interface for presenting the data.
We were able to reduce our monthly bill for iPad data usage by well over 60%. Simply by limiting the applications available to what was absolutely necessary to do their jobs.
We have never had an iPad lost that couldn’t be recovered.
We were able to reassign iPads when we discovered techs were not using them. Some techs preferred to use their company phones.
